Barcelona’s artistic flair, Mediterranean coastline, and dynamic social scene make it the ideal place to study culture, communication, and society. Through the Barcelona International Summer School (BISS) program at the Universidad de Barcelona, you’ll take courses in topics like area and culture studies, international relations, social sciences, and communications—all taught in English alongside other international students.

We’ll help you make the most of your time abroad with immersive excursions and interactive activities throughout your program. We’ll also host an in-depth orientation when you arrive to help you navigate the city, academic culture, and your new home – all included in your program. While perfecting your Spanish, you’ll connect with the city through cooking classes, language exchanges with locals, guided tours of Barcelona’s historic neighborhoods and iconic sites like the Sagrada Familia, and even a beach day in nearby Valencia.

Universidad Pompeu Fabra
Located in the heart of Barcelona just steps from Ciutadella Park and Barceloneta Beach, the Universidad Pompeu Fabra (UPF) offers an immersive urban campus experience. Recognized for its academic rigor and research excellence, UPF provides a wide array of English- and Spanish-taught courses designed for both international and local students. Most courses are held at the Ciutadella campus, with select business courses held nearby at the ESCI campus.

Excursions and Activities

Home Away from Home
After you've applied, you'll complete a housing questionnaire that will help us match your preferences with the available options. Housing assignments are on a first-come, first-served basis, so complete this form as soon as you're able! We strive to match your housing preferences as best we can, but requests cannot be guaranteed.
The options listed below are based on double-occupancy with another international student, unless otherwise noted. Single rooms may be available upon request for an additional fee. Meals and laundry service are not included unless otherwise specified. All utilities and internet are included, though you may be charged an additional fee should your consumption exceed the allotted monthly amount. A refundable security deposit may be required for some options.
