Semester at Universidad Antonio de Nebrija

Courses at Universidad Antonio de Nebrija are worth 6 ECTS.

Credits earned vary according to the policies of your home institution. Our enrollment policy and possible visa implications require you to maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by your home institution, during your program.

The transcript from the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija will reflect the ECTS credit values indicated below. The contact hours for each course will not be reflected on the transcript but are listed in order to help determine transfer credit.

Early Start

You will be automatically enrolled in two Spanish courses: Intensive Spanish Language and Conversation & Culture, each earning 6 ECTS for a total of 12 ECTS credits (90 hours). Both courses are taught in Spanish, and they are taken together as a "pack" prior to the start of the regular semester.

Semester

You will select 4-5 courses. The maximum number of ECTS credits that can be taken is 30, as each course is 6 ECTS.  

You are permitted to select courses offered in English, Spanish, or a combination of both. In order to fully immerse yourself in the language and culture of the area, we strongly encourage you to enroll in a language course. If you have not completed any prior Spanish coursework, we recommend enrolling in Beginning Spanish CH1001.  

If you are at the High Beginning Spanish language level and are interested in taking all courses in Spanish, please speak to your Program Manager after applying.

Your eligibility for Spanish language courses will ultimately be determined by a placement exam taken online through Universidad Antonio de Nebrija approximately one month prior to departure.   

However, when making your initial selections, please use the following information as a guide. Each semester/quarter refers to college-level Spanish or the equivalent:  

• Beginning: 0-1 semesters/0-2 quarters  

• High Beginning: 1-2 semesters/2-3 quarters  

• Intermediate: 2-3 semesters/3-5 quarters  

• High Intermediate: 3-4 semesters/5-6 quarters  

• Advanced: 4-5 semesters/6-8 quarters  

• High Advanced: 5-6 semesters/7-9 quarters  

• Superior: 6+ semesters/9+ quarters  

Program eligibility requirements:

• You must be enrolled as a full-time degree-seeking student in a U.S. college or university

• You must have completed two semesters of college coursework (with grades) by the time of application in order to be accepted

• You must also have been enrolled full-time at a university for the most recent two semesters leading into the program

• All students need at least 30 completed U.S. credit hours to participate in the program

• You must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
