Lay a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery's Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  Explore the amazing exhibits of the Smithsonian Museums. Your itinerary also includes a visit to Williamsburg, a 200-year-old fully functioning town restored to its original colonial design, and Jamestown, the first colony.  On this educational student travel program, you'll discover the roots of the American story all the way up through present day democracy.

Experience 18th-century stories as students participate in a dynamic performance with costumed interpreters.

Day 2 : Colonial Perspectives
Breakfast and hotel check-out

Jamestown Settlement

Explore replicas of the three ships that sailed from England to Virginia. Learn about the colonists in a recreated 17th-century fort and watch historical interpreters at a Powhatan Indian Village.

Colonial Williamsburg

Experience 18th-century colonial life as you explore the Revolutionary City and meet people of the past such as wigmakers, blacksmiths, and tinsmiths.

Experience the Holocaust through the eyes of a child in “Daniel’s Story” at this living memorial to the victims of Nazi Germany.

World War II Memorial

Honor the 16 million who served and 400,000 who lost their lives protecting our freedoms.

Washington Monument

(picture stop) Snap some photos in front of the world’s tallest stone monument.

Jefferson Memorial

Read some of Jefferson’s famous writings and gain a new respect for the foresight he had while writing the Declaration of Independence.

FDR Memorial

Learn how Franklin D. Roosevelt reached out to the American people during the Great Depression.

Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial

Experience this memorial dedicated to the famous civil rights activist.

Day 4 : Continue your adventure in our nation's capital.

Pay your respects to the hundreds of thousands of brave men and women who sacrificed their lives.

Iwo Jima Memorial

Think about the inscription, “Uncommon valor was a common virtue,” while you explore this tribute to the U.S. Marines who died while serving our country.

Pentagon Memorial

Visit the memorial honoring the 184 victims of the September 11, 2001, attacks at the Pentagon.

Lunch

Capitol Hill

Walk the underground tunnels where lawmakers meet, explore the Visitor Center (by appointment), take in the miles of books at the Library of Congress, and sit on the steps of the highest court in the land, the U.S. Supreme Court.

National Archives

See the Constitution, Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence, and understand how they impact our lives today and ensure our basic freedoms.

Dinner

Lincoln Memorial

Stand where Martin Luther King, Jr., stood when he delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial

Scan more than 58,000 names inscribed on the Wall, representing the men and women who were killed or missing in action during the Vietnam War.

Korean War Veterans Memorial

Walk among 19 statues, each depicting a soldier in realistic garb, as they marched through Korea’s rough terrain during the Korean War.

Day 5 : Continue to explore Washington, D.C.!
Breakfast and hotel check-out

White House

(picture stop) Take a picture standing in front of the most recognizable symbol of the presidency.

Ford’s Theatre and Petersen House

(by appointment) Follow the mystery of Lincoln’s assassination from Ford’s Theatre to the nearby house where he died.

Lunch

Smithsonian Institution

Explore incredible museums, such as the National History Museum, the National Air and Space Museum, the National Gallery of Art, and the American History Museum.

Dinner and depart Washington, D.C., for home.

    How do I register for my program/trip?

    For most programs, there are a few easy ways to register:

    • Online: Visit our online portal
    • By Phone: Some programs may be eligible for phone registration. Visit our Contact Us page to find the phone number!
    • By Mail: If you received a trip letter distributed by your program leader, complete the registration form and fax the front and back with your credit card information to the number or address provided in your letter.
    Some WorldStrides programs offer incentives for early registration, so please refer to the information provided to you by your program leader for complete details. When registering, you'll need to use the Trip ID assigned to your program.  Each ID is unique and can also be found on the registration information provided to you by the educator leading this program. *Note: Some groups may have special registration procedures. Please check with your program leader if you cannot find a Trip ID associated with your trip.

    What's included in the cost of a domestic or high school international program?

    Every program is customized and what's included may vary from trip to trip. A typical program includes transportation (air or motor coach), hotel accommodations, meals, a daily guide (Course Leader or Tour Director), sightseeing activities, and immersive educational content. All programs also include all of our safety provisions and support. The registration letter provided by the teacher leading your program has all the inclusion details for your specific program.

    Can students earn academic credit from their travel programs?

    Yes! We love when students get credit for learning. This helps them get a step ahead, whether its for a college application or for a future career. All middle programs include the opportunity to earn free high school credit. Our Perspectives programs offer high school students the opportunity to earn three free college preparatory credits. Most of our higher education programs include credit from the academic institution of record. Our online courses make it easy to earn credit at a student's own pace. WorldStrides offers coursework that has been carefully designed to combine the field experience with online assignments that demonstrate achievement of learning objectives.
