Meet your WorldStrides representative and get your exciting Iceland adventure underway! Your Course Leader will provide an orientation overview of key sites and concepts that you will visit during the program.

Explore the famous Viking ship, the Icelander, while having breakfast with a view.

Explore Iceland's capital with a tour of the city whose motto, “pure energy,” perfectly describes it. Visit the Hofdi house, site of the “end of the Cold War” meeting between President Reagan and General Secretary Gorbachev. See Hallgrimskirkja Church and walk the colorful streets of the old quarter.

Visit the Perlan exhibition, go on a cinematic underwater journey, and wander through an ice cave. Visit the Pearl vantage point. The Pearl is a remarkable building with a glass dome constructed on huge tanks where natural water is stored for heating the city. Check out the great views of the capital area and beyond!   

Just outside Reykjavik, students will learn about tectonic plates and, weather permitting, explore a lava field.  

This stunning 300 km loop illustrates the power and beauty of nature.

See Iceland's first national park, including the country's largest lake, a rift valley, and the site of Iceland's Parliament from 930 to 1789.  

Sample rye bread baked from the surface of the earth.  

Watch the rushing water of this waterfall drop 250 feet into a canyon!

Visit this now inactive geyser, and also see Strokkur, a geyser that erupts about every 10 minutes. Take in the beautiful hot and cold springs, and unusual plant life that surround this area.  

Learn how natural hot springs help grow tomatoes all year long and hear a brief history of the Icelandic horse at this charming family run farm.    

Check out this amazing 3,000-year-old volcanic crater lake.  

Travel through south Iceland to see farmlands, black sand beaches, thundering waterfalls, powerful volcanoes, and majestic glaciers!

This interactive, high-tech educational exhibition where we will examine various volcanos and earthquakes that have helped shape our planet and create Iceland.     

Make a quick stop at another of Iceland's gorgeous waterfalls.

From basalt columns to cave-filled cliffs, this other-worldly place holds a beauty all its own.  

Walk right up to Solheimajokull, the southwestern snout – or end – of the Myrdalsjokull icecap.   

See this waterfall from a new perspective - the back - by walking behind the magnificent wall of water and feeling its power.

Walk to a hot spring where there are active hot springs to observe.  

Witness the inner workings of a volcanic eruption by walking in the path of lava.  

Iceland's National Museum is home to artifacts that are thousands of years old. Learn how the Vikings first settled here and ponder what life would have been like in 10th-century Iceland. Consider the past, present, and future while exploring the displays.

Just outside Reykjavik, visit a power plant and get an in-depth look at how geothermal energy is processed. This power plant is located at Hengill, an active volcanic ridge in southwest Iceland. Get an in-depth look at how the hot water is processed for geothermal energy to meet growing demands for electricity.     

Explore the Blue Lagoon, a unique wonder, pleasantly warm geothermal water in the middle of a black lava field. Because of the silica and minerals in the water, the lagoon is a rich and beautiful blue! Take a dip in the famous waters and feel invigorated by the natural beauty around you. This exciting and relaxing activity is the perfect ending to your Icelandic adventure!  

Visit a site with powerful jets of steam escaping from deep below the earth's crust and sulfurous steam rising from numerous vents of a geothermal field. Students will have the opportunity to see innumerable small hot springs, mud pots, boiling pools and other types of geothermal activity.
