Vik and Dyrholaey

At the southernmost point of Iceland, Vik is world-famous for its stunning black sand beaches. With its towering basalt rock formations and sharply rising cliffs, Vik is truly a wonder to behold. Dyrholaey, a small peninsula not far from Vik, offers incredible views of both the sea and the many seabirds that make coastal Iceland their home. In the late summer, puffins nest in the cliff faces of Dyrholaey.

Did you know?

  • Legend says that the Reynisdrangar pillars, rising from the North Atlantic Ocean just off the beaches at Vik, were trolls that were turned to rock while dragging their boats ashore.
