Meet the 2019 Festival at Carnegie Hall National Youth Choir Conductors

Carnegie Hall is a venue that needs no introduction. The Festival at Carnegie Hall gives the most elite choirs, bands, and orchestras the opportunity to perform on the Ronald O. Perelman Stage in the Isaac Stern Auditorium, the largest performance venue at Carnegie Hall, and learn under the direction of internationally acclaimed conductors. Christopher Aspaas

Christopher Aspaas, serves as the Director of Choral Activities at TCU and formerly as the Robert Scholz Endowed Chair in Music and Associate Professor of Choral/Vocal Music at St. Olaf College.
Conducting Feb 22-25

Anton Armstrong

Anton Armstrong, Tosdal Professor of Music at St. Olaf College, is a graduate of St. Olaf College and earned advanced degrees at the University of Illinois and Michigan State University.
Conducting: Mar 9-11

Andre Thomas

André Thomas, the Owen F. Sellers Professor of Music, is Director of Choral Activities and Professor of Choral Music Education at Florida State University.

Conducting Mar 22-25

Dr. Eph Ehly

Dr. Eph Ehly has conducted over 80 All-State Choirs and more than 600 Festival Ensembles, and is one of the most sought out conductors.

Dr. Jeffery Redding

Dr. Jeffery Redding is past Director of Choral Activities at West Virginia University and currently serves as Director of Choral Activities at West Orange High School in Florida.

Conducting: Feb 22-25

Rollo Dilworth

Rollo Dilworth is a Professor of Choral Music Education and Chair of Music Education and Music Therapy at Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance in Philadelphia, PA.

Conducting: Mar 9-11

Jeffery L Ames

Jeffery L. Ames serves as Director of Choral Activities at Belmont University. He is an accomplished composer, conductor, arranger, and accompanist.

Edith Copley

Edith A. Copley is the Director of Choral Studies Northern Arizona University where she leads the Shrine of the Ages Choir and teaches choral literature.

Lynne Gackle

Lynne Gackle is Professor of Ensembles and Associate Director of Choral Activities at Baylor University where she conducts the Baylor Bella Voce and the Baylor Concert Choir.

Conducting: April 5-8

Every Festival at Carnegie Hall group spends extensive time in mass rehearsals with their head conductor who exude a love and passion for music and the performing arts. Choral ensembles may be accepted to the festival either by receiving a Gold 90+ rating at a Heritage Festival or by audition. We are now accepting applications!
