2018 Virginia Spanish Spelling Bee
Harrisonburg City middle school student Anish Aradhey was named winner of the Virginia State Spanish Spelling Bee. The Bee was held at The University of Virginia. Anish is now gearing up to attend the National Spanish Spelling Bee this July in San Antonio, Texas.
WorldStrides V.P. of Education Wendy Amato, Ph.D. was one of the three judges officiating the competition. WorldStrides was also a sponsor and will be covering Anish’s airfare to the Lone Star State.
State-wide Spelling Bee coordinators included Jeremy Aldrich, Foreign Language and CTE Coordinator from Harrisonburg Public Schools, The Virginia Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP-VA) and The Harrisonburg Education Foundation.
The National Spanish Spelling Bee, now in its eighth year, is open to students from grades three to eight. The competition aims to promote bilingualism and bi-literacy across the country.
Congrats Anish!
