Plaza de España
The Plaza de España is a popular place to gather in Central Madrid. It features a large monument to Miguel de Cervante, author of Don Quixote.
Royal Palace
View the Palacio Real, a huge palace begun in 1738 on the site of the Madrid Alcázar, which burned to the ground in 1734. Although the palace is no longer home to the royal family, it is still full of art treasures and antiques, including Tiepolo ceilings and paintings by Goya.
Reina Sofia Museum visit
Officially recognized as Spain’s National Museum of 20th Century Art, The Sofia—as it is more commonly known—is home to an impressive collection from Spain’s two greatest 20th century masters. Hosting works of both Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí, it’s no wonder that The Sofia has risen to such a prominent place in the world of art. Certainly the most famous piece in the museum is Picasso’s Guernica, but in addition to this wonderful masterpiece, you’ll also find a vast library, archive, bookstore and restaurant.

Day 4 :
Madrid - Granada Area
Travel to Granada
From Madrid we travel to Granada via Toledo.

Visit St. Mary’s Synagogue, Toledo Cathedral, Monasterio de San Juan de los Reyes, and a Sword factory.
Visit St. Mary's Synagogue
Visit The Synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, the oldest intact synagogue building in Europe. As it was constructed by the Christian Kingdom of Castile and designed by Islamic architects for Jewish use, it is considered a symbol of cooperation among the three religions.
Visit Toledo Cathedral
Walk to Toledo Cathedral, considered one of the greatest Gothic structures in Spain. The cathedral actually reflects several architectural styles and features many art treasures, including: the Transparente, a Last Supper in alabaster, El Greco's Twelve Apostoles, and works by Juan de Borgona. The Treasure Room features a 500-pound, 15th Century gilded monstrance, allegedly made with gold brought back from the New World by Colombus. It is still carried through the streets of Toledo during the feast of Corpus Christi.

Day 5 :
Granada
Visit Alhambra Palace & Generalife Gardens
See the impressive Islamic architecture en route to the massive Alhambra fortress-palace and enjoy the soul-soothing fountains of the Generalife Gardens with a local guide. Please note the guided tour will include entrance to the gardens and rooms surrounding the palace but entrance to the main palace building may not be accessible at all times due to limited availability.
Day 6 :
Granada - Tangier Area

Travel to Tangier via ferry.

Tangier, a Moroccan port on the Strait of Gibraltar, has been a strategic gateway between Africa and Europe since Phoenician times. Its whitewashed hillside medina is home to the Dar el Makhzen, a palace of the sultans that's now a museum of Moroccan artifacts.

Visit the historical part of the city of Tangier.
Cape Spartel
Cape Spartel sits at the entrance of the The Strait of Gibraltar, the location where the Atlantic Ocean meets and mixes with the Mediterranean Sea.
Day 7 :
Tangier and Fes Area
Travel to Fes via Chefchaouen
Depart for Fes.

Chefchaouen, known as the Blue Pearl of Morocco, is a dream to explore. With its blue-rinsed houses, the whole city seems to be bathed in azure. Witness the city's rich heritage while exploring the Medina with its famous narrow winding alleys, an opportunity to mingle with locals, and take in the delights: From freshly baked bread, to skillfully prepared tagines.
Medina of Chefchaouen Tour
Tour Chefchaouen's medina, one of the loveliest in Morocco. Small and uncrowded, most of the buildings are painted a blinding blue-white, giving them a clean, fresh look, while terracotta tiles add an Andalucian flavor. The heart of the medina is the shady, cobbled Plaza Uta el-Hammam, dominated by the red-hued walls of the kasbah and the adjacent Grande Mosquée.

Day 8 :
Fes
Discover Fes with a local guide
As the former capital of Morocco and one of four Imperial Moroccan cities, Fes is an ancient city full of cultural and religious history. Explore the winding, dusty and car-free streets of Fes el Bali, the walled old city, visit the expansive Royal Palace and gardens, see the towering minaret of Kairaouine Mosque which dates back to 956 AD and head to one of the leading spiritual and educational centers in the Muslim world, the University of Al-Karaouine.

Day 9 :
Fes and Casablanca Area
Travel to Casablanca via RabatSee Rabat via guided tour
Morocco’s capital is a mix of governmental buildings, religious institutions, textile factories and tourist attractions. Travel to see the green-roofed Mohamed V Mausoleum, considered a masterpiece of Alaouite dynasty architecture and the huge Hassan Tower, a red sandstone minaret that was started in 1195 AD but never completed. Located right in the heart of Rabat, the Royal Palace is a sumptuous example of Islamic architecture and is seat of the Moroccan government and home to the King of Morocco.
Day 10 :
Return Home OR Extend Your Trip

Through our Discovery for Credit Program, students traveling on an international WorldStrides program have the opportunity to earn academic credit by completing an online course that allows them to reflect upon many of the themes and topics explored during their travel program. Those in grades 6–12 at the time of travel can earn free elective high school credit upon successful completion of both the travel program and online course. Through our university partner, George Mason University, eligible students in grades 9-12 at the time of travel can earn up to three college credits upon successful completion of both the travel program and online course. Students who earn credit with WorldStrides will find this distinguishes them as online learners and gives them a jump-start on their path to a successful higher education experience.
