Day 1 : Welcome to Hawaii!

[activity title="Historic Kona Town Scavenger Hunt"]Explore Ali’i Drive’s historical sites, including Ahu'ena Heiau, which was once King Kamehameha’s place of worship and Hulihe’e Palace - used by royalty as a vacation home but is now a museum with ancient Hawaiian artifacts

Day 2 : Volcanoes, Lava, Craters, and More!
Breakfast

Start your day by learning how Madam Pele, the volcano goddess, formed the Hawaiian Archipelago

Punalu’u Black Sand Beach

They get their color from volcanic lava contacting the ocean – as the lava cools rapidly, it shatters into small basalt fragments giving the beach its black color.

Volcanoes National Park

located in a giant tropical hapu’u fern forest. Continue your exploration by visiting the Steam Vents, where ground water makes its way down to the hot volcanic rocks and returns up to the surface as steam.

Lunch

Kīlauea Visitor’s Center

Discuss tectonic plates, the Ring of Fire, and how Hawaii was formed through a “hot spot” in the Pacific Plate.

Akaka Falls Hike

Hike through lush tropical landscape to scenic vista points overlooking the cascading Kahuna Falls and Akaka Falls with plunge 442-feet into the gorge below.

Dinner

Rainbow Falls

Enjoy a picture stop at Rainbow Falls. These falls are 80 feet tall and 100 feet wide and are set against a lush tropical rainforest backdrop.

Return to Hotel

Day 3 : Explore National Park and Historic Kona
Breakfast

Kaloko-Honokahau National Historic Park

Walk along the beach to observe how the white coral sand contrasts against the black lava.

Service Project

Students learn about invasive species and Hawaiian aquaculture while participating in a service project.

Lunch

Kona Cloud Forest Sanctuary

Learn how tropical cloud forests benefit the ecosystem, and the story of its development on the slopes of Hualalai. Get up close with amazing ferns, palms, flowers, and hundreds of exotic and native species of birds

Pu`uhonua O Hōnaunau National Park

Explore this ancient place, still considered a sacred site. Learn how the pu'uhonua served as a sanctuary for defeated warriors and lawbreakers.

Day 4 : Snorkel , Place of Refuge, Luau
Breakfast and Hotel Check-out

Snorkel cruise and lunch

Board a catamaran for a snorkel cruise and lunch. Students will snorkel in the brilliant blue waters and see vibrant coral, tropical fish, and on occasion, spinner dolphins and humpback whales.

Day 5 : Honolulu and Pearl Harbor
Breakfast

Diamond Head

Climb the 99 stairs to the top of Diamond Head, a well-known landmark of the Honolulu Volcanic Series. This 763-foot volcanic tuff cone summit boasts an exhilarating 360-degree panoramic view!”.

Visit Waikiki Beach

Japanese-Style Dinner

Experience Hawaii’s cultural melting pot first-hand during a Japanese-style dinner.

Visit International Market

Day 6 : Aloha, Hawaii
Breakfast and Hotel Check-out

Pearl Harbor

Visit Pearl Harbor and the U.S.S Arizona. Learn about the U.S.’s entry to WWII and the sacrifices made on “The Day of Infamy.

Enjoy a picnic-style lunch with a view of the famous war ship, the U.S.S. Missouri.

Take a walking tour on the surrender deck where General MacArthur signed the treaty to end WWII in Tokyo Bay.

Dinner

    How do I register for my program/trip?

    For most programs, there are a few easy ways to register:

    • Online: Visit our online portal
    • By Phone: Some programs may be eligible for phone registration. Visit our Contact Us page to find the phone number!
    • By Mail: If you received a trip letter distributed by your program leader, complete the registration form and fax the front and back with your credit card information to the number or address provided in your letter.
    Some WorldStrides programs offer incentives for early registration, so please refer to the information provided to you by your program leader for complete details. When registering, you'll need to use the Trip ID assigned to your program.  Each ID is unique and can also be found on the registration information provided to you by the educator leading this program. *Note: Some groups may have special registration procedures. Please check with your program leader if you cannot find a Trip ID associated with your trip.

    Can students earn academic credit from their travel programs?

    Yes! We love when students get credit for learning. This helps them get a step ahead, whether its for a college application or for a future career. All middle programs include the opportunity to earn free high school credit. Our Perspectives programs offer high school students the opportunity to earn three free college preparatory credits. Most of our higher education programs include credit from the academic institution of record. Our online courses make it easy to earn credit at a student's own pace. WorldStrides offers coursework that has been carefully designed to combine the field experience with online assignments that demonstrate achievement of learning objectives.     What's included in the cost of a domestic or high school international program?

    Every program is customized and what's included may vary from trip to trip. A typical program includes transportation (air or motor coach), hotel accommodations, meals, a daily guide (Course Leader or Tour Director), sightseeing activities, and immersive educational content. All programs also include all of our safety provisions and support. The registration letter provided by the teacher leading your program has all the inclusion details for your specific program.
