Outdoor Education in Colorado – Climate Change in an Alpine Environment
Colorado has a diverse landscape of arid desert, river canyons and snow-covered Rocky Mountains, which are partly protected by Rocky Mountain National Park. Elsewhere, Mesa Verde National Park features Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings. Perched a mile above sea level, Denver, Colorado's capital and largest city, features a vibrant downtown area. Based in Durango, students will explore the Alpine environment while researching the causes and effects of climate change with local experts. There is also a daytrip to Mesa Verde National Park to cap off this highly experiential Outdoor Education program.
