Sutter’s Fort
Relive the Gold Rush and understand its effects on the United States at the fort built by Swiss immigrant John Sutter more than 150 years ago. Participate in a scavenger hunt and watch hourly cannon salutes!
Nimbus Fish Factory
Watch thousands of fish swim upstream at this hatchery! Discover the importance of conservation through the story of salmon and steelhead fish migrations, and discuss how humans are helping with conservation efforts.
Cable Car Ride
Soak in the amazing sights of the city as you ride one of San Francisco’s historic cable cars. Check out the amazing turntables that rotate the cable cars 180 degrees at the end of their route, and find out what it takes to be a cable car driver.
Vietnam Veterans Memorial
This memorial, designed by a Vietnam veteran, was dedicated in 1988. Get a feel for a soldier’s life in the Vietnam War as you examine the memorial’s statues and pay your respects to those who served.
Marshal Gold Discovery Park
See the site of the 1848 gold discovery that started the 1849 California Gold Rush, and learn how it transformed our state and the nation. Visit the working replica of Sutter’s Mill and learn to pan for gold.
Pier 39
Explore famous Pier 39 on the San Francisco Bay, and laugh along with the sea lions, watch talented street performers, and explore the shops that line Fisherman’s Wharf. Take time out to see the beautiful hand-painted carousel.
Alcatraz Island
Learn firsthand about the strategic importance of Alcatraz during the Civil War and its transformation into the famed prison. Hear about the fate of the 46 men who escaped during their time at “The Rock.”
Exploratorium
Explore over 650 hands-on exhibits at this world-famous science museum. After a visit, you’ll consider how science relates to everyday things like the music on your alarm clock, your skateboard tricks, and your backyard garden.

Exact safety measures vary by destination but could range from a staff member at your hotel to assist with any needs that may arise to night chaperones that watch the hallways while students are sleeping. In some destinations, we provide 24-hour Course Leaders. That’s all in addition to the support of Doctors on Call and WorldAssist.

Protect Your Investment with our Full Refund Program
Educational travel is an investment in your child’s future. Our Full Refund Program protects that investment should you have to cancel your registration for any reason prior to departure. The program refunds all money paid (less the cost of the Full Refund Program and any other non-refundable fees) and includes special Job Loss Protection. Academic Credit included with each trip
Through our Discovery for Credit program, we’re extremely proud to offer academic credit to student travelers upon successful completion of online course work. Student travelers in middle school can receive high school credit and student travelers in grades 9-12 may be eligible to receive up to three college credits. On applicable programs, college credit is provided through our university partner, George Mason University. Click here to learn more.
