Celebrate National Sandwich Day with an Internationally Inspired Lunch!

Today is National Sandwich Day, which coincides, with the birthday of 18^th century English noble, John Montagu, who was the fourth Earl of Sandwich. Today’s popular lunch choice got its name as a result of a 24-hour gambling event, during which Montagu instructed his servants to bring him his meat between two slices of bread so that he could continue his card game and eat his lunch without getting his hands greasy. What a concept!

In celebration, chow down your favorite sandwich today! Or, go global and kick up your traditional ham and American cheese with a swap for the French style croque monsieur, munch on an Italian-style tomato, basil, mozzarella panino, or perhaps try a delicious Vietnamese Bánh mì sandwich.
