Choose Earth

Environmental and social responsibility are part of WorldStrides’ core values. Our Choose Earth initiative incorporates these practices into the ethos and outcomes of educational programs. The Choose Earth program is designed to give participants a concrete way to participate in our organization’s “Choose Earth” goals, as well as the necessary tools to reflect on their engagement and impact.

Inspired by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Choose Earth provides intersectional resources for participants to learn about sustainability, DEI, and environmental justice through the lens of their program, while simultaneously engaging in practical steps to exercise sustainable travel. Utilizing the SDGs encourages our participants to consider both the environment and people in order to leave a positive impact wherever they are around the globe.

WorldStrides encourages awareness of how choices made at the individual level can have a global impact. By engaging participants and team members with Choose Earth, our collective actions will positively contribute to the planet’s vitality and longevity.

Within Choose Earth, there are two tracks:

• Choose Earth Certificate
• Choose Earth Micro-Credential

Benefits

When it comes to sustainability and environmentally responsible living, individual actions can have a significant global impact. The Choose Earth Program recognizes participants’ efforts to uphold a sustainable lifestyle and can be used to show future educational institutions, employers, and colleagues who also prioritize these values. Participants will also be issued a digital credential or badge once they complete the program.

Choose Earth Certificate

The certificate program is designed for our K-12 group and individual travel experiences and custom programs. This opportunity provides Program Leaders, teachers, and facilitators with the tools and activities necessary to complete the certificate. For more information on how to get started, click here.

Choose Earth Micro-Credential

The micro-credential program is designed for our higher education, gap year, and young adult participants through the learning management system Schoology. A four-part module allows participants to engage in discussion, an eco-challenge, and reflection. They receive an introduction to sustainability and a shareable badge for use on all professional platforms. If you are interested in learning more, click here.
