About the Choose Earth Certificate
The Choose Earth Certificate program is designed for our K-12 group and individual travel experiences and custom programs. To obtain their certificate, participants should complete the following checklist:
- Participation in a “Sustainability and Environmental Justice” curriculum
- One hands-on eco-challenge
- Facilitated group discussions throughout the Choose Earth experience
Certification is designed to be completed in one day but can span multiple program days. Participants who want to add a sustainable component to their program, learn more about sustainable travel, or diversify their itinerary are great candidates for the Choose Earth Certificate.
How does it work?
Sustainability and Environmental Justice Curriculum
Before the program’s start, Program Leaders, group coordinators, and guides will identify a relevant topic of study pertaining to sustainability and environmental justice. They will then receive educational resources to incorporate into the program that satisfy this requirement. Topic choices include:
- Plastic Waste Reduction, in partnership with Fill it Forward
- Reducing Waste
- Transportation and Sustainable Travel
- General Choose Earth Certificate
Eco-Challenge
We challenge participants to engage in an additional activity that lessens their carbon footprint and brings environmental awareness to the trip. Eco-challenge suggestions are included in the Choose Earth package, but participants can also create their own activity.
Group Reflection
Participants will partake in conversation that expands on the influence of their eco-challenge and sustainability awareness moving forward. This is also an opportunity to go beyond the suggested reflection questions and get personal!
How to register for the Choose Earth Certificate:
- When coordinating with their Sales Representative, teachers or Program Leaders should mention their interest in the Choose Earth Certificate.
- The sales team will send the necessary materials to complete the certificate alongside your itinerary.
- The last page of your Choose Earth materials will contain a link for Program Leaders or teachers to visit and share participants’ names and emails.
- Once names have been submitted, participants should receive their digital certificates within 7-10 business days.
