Who Named The White House?
Each president leaves his own unique mark on our country. Theodore Roosevelt, our 26th president, made his mark in several ways throughout his eight years of presidency. He was well known for his friendly and outgoing personality, leadership skills, and his wide variety of hobbies and interests.
However, a lesser known fact about Roosevelt is that he actually named The White House! Before Roosevelt was President, The White House was commonly referred to as the President’s Palace, the President’s House, or the Executive Mansion. Roosevelt officially named the building The White House in 1901 by having the words “The White House – Washington” engraved on the president’s stationary.
