WorldStrides Teacher of the Year: Gina Englund

In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, WorldStrides will be showcasing our five Teacher of the Year recipients. These teachers have gone above and beyond, inside of the classroom and out. We are thrilled to honor them for their commitment to students and share their stories!

For over six years, Gina Englund has been running Bright Beginnings Academy, a school she started for students with dyslexia in Mobile, Alabama. Educating students from grades one to eight, she has made a true difference in the local community. As one of her students said, “My teacher goes above and beyond! She took a leap of faith and started a school for dyslexic children! She is always looking for ways to improve our learning experience. Every year, I ask Mrs. Gina to add a grade.”

Take a look as we surprise Gina during her first-ever WorldStrides trip, in Washington D.C, and hear from students and parents about what makes Gina so special! Congratulations Gina!
