Student/Teacher Teams Can Now Apply for an All-Expenses Paid Educational Tour of France
The Albert H. Small Normandy Institute, in collaboration with George Washington University and WorldStrides, invites student/teacher teams on a learning journey through the D-Day Campaign of 1944 and the sacrifices made by young Americans to defeat tyranny.
Selected team will participate in an intensive online course throughout the winter and spring which will include readings and online course discussion of materials supervised by Institute staff from George Washington University. Next, the student/teacher teams will travel to Washington D.C. for an on-campus experience featuring a series of lectures and activities, including researching a solider from the student’s hometown with help from the D.C. National Archives. Teams will also visit the impressive and eye-opening 624-acre Arlington National Cemetery.
The program will conclude with an all-expenses paid educational tour to France, led by George Washington professors where the teams will explore the beaches of Normandy and the streets of Paris. Other highlights of the tour will include on-site student-led presentations on various aspects of the project, and eulogies for their hometown heroes while standing by the gravesites in the Normandy American Cemetery at Colleville-Sur-Mer.
15 student/teacher teams will be selected. Applications will be accepted until December 7th. Learn more about this special opportunity here.
