Day 1 : Welcome to Philadelphia!
Arrive in Philadelphia, PA

Meet your Course Leader and prepare for an action-packed adventure in a city alive with history and culture. Philadelphia served as our nation's capital until 1800.

Franklin Institute

Explore a museum dedicated to hands-on learning. With exhibits focused on railroads, aviation, and science, the Franklin Institute has no lack of adventure.

Dinner

Rocky Stairs

The iconic scene from the movie Rocky, where Sylvester Stallone ran up these steps makes this site a must-see. Recreate the scene with your friends and take lots of pictures!

Eastern State Penitentiary

This prison has been abandoned since 1971, but has held some of America's most famous criminals including Al "Scarface" Capone.

Independence National Historical Park

Take a look at Carpenter's Hall, where the First Continental Congress met in 1774. Browse through Independent Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was signed and the Constitution was written.

Visit majestic Congress Hall, where Congress met from 1790-1800. Finish your morning by visiting one of America's most hallowed symbols of liberty, the Liberty Bell.

Independence National Historical State Park (continued)

Continue exploring this historical park with a trip to Christ Church. Historical greats like George Washington and Benjamin Franklin worshiped in this sanctuary, which has been an active church since 1695.

Hop over to Franklin Court, where you'll see the "ghost house" representing Benjamin Franklin's home, a working print shop, the B. Free Franklin post office, and an underground museum.

Betsy Ross House

Visit the home of our nation's most famous flag maker and the actual site where Betsy Ross made the American flag.

Elfreth's Alley

Walk along beautiful Elfreth's Alley, America's oldest residential street, knowing that you're walking in the footsteps of many of our founding fathers and historical icons.

Valley Forge

As the home of General George Washington's Continental Army winter encampment, this large park holds many treasures. Take a peek at the Washington Memorial Chapel, Washington's headquarters, and the National Memorial Arch.

Amish Country

Explore another world in the largest Amish community in the country. Visit a traditional Amish farm, pretzel factory, school house, and cemetery. Discover the customs and traditions of Colonial Lancaster.

Day 4 : Continue Exploring our Nation's First Capital!

City Hall

Take in the breathtaking view of the city from the observation deck. Don't miss the 37-foot statue of William Penn atop the 548-foot tower of City Hall.

U.S. Mint

Tour the world's largest mint and discover the coins created there. Walk the halls of the first mint commissioned under George Washington in 1792.

Penn's Landing/Independence Seaport Museum

Soak in the sights of Philadelphia's beautiful waterfront. See the seaport where William Penn docked in 1682.

Edgar Allan Poe National Historical Site

Take a look around the house Poe lived in from 1843-1844, where he wrote the "Tell-Tale Heart".

Depart Philadelphia for Home

    Can students earn academic credit from their travel programs?

    Yes! We love when students get credit for learning. This helps them get a step ahead, whether its for a college application or for a future career. All middle programs include the opportunity to earn free high school credit. Our Perspectives programs offer high school students the opportunity to earn three free college preparatory credits. Most of our higher education programs include credit from the academic institution of record. Our online courses make it easy to earn credit at a student's own pace. WorldStrides offers coursework that has been carefully designed to combine the field experience with online assignments that demonstrate achievement of learning objectives.     How do I register for my program/trip?

    For most programs, there are a few easy ways to register:

    • Online: Visit our online portal
    • By Phone: Some programs may be eligible for phone registration. Visit our Contact Us page to find the phone number!
    • By Mail: If you received a trip letter distributed by your program leader, complete the registration form and fax the front and back with your credit card information to the number or address provided in your letter.
    Some WorldStrides programs offer incentives for early registration, so please refer to the information provided to you by your program leader for complete details. When registering, you'll need to use the Trip ID assigned to your program.  Each ID is unique and can also be found on the registration information provided to you by the educator leading this program. *Note: Some groups may have special registration procedures. Please check with your program leader if you cannot find a Trip ID associated with your trip.

    What's included in the cost of a domestic or high school international program?

    Every program is customized and what's included may vary from trip to trip. A typical program includes transportation (air or motor coach), hotel accommodations, meals, a daily guide (Course Leader or Tour Director), sightseeing activities, and immersive educational content. All programs also include all of our safety provisions and support. The registration letter provided by the teacher leading your program has all the inclusion details for your specific program.
