WorldStrides is proud to be inviting eighth grade students who have been impacted by the recent hurricanes on a special trip to Washington, D.C. on President’s Day weekend.

On Friday December 1, WorldStrides CEO Jim Hall called students at three schools, via webcam, to share the news that their nominations have been accepted for the all-expense paid trip. With bright eyes and shining faces, the students – from Gainesville, Florida, Houston Texas, and Pahokee, Florida – expressed appreciation and excitement. Check out the video of Jim’s call with students from Pahokee Middle School.

These students are the first group notified of their selection after being nominated by teachers in their hard hit communities. Selection announcements and notifications will continue over several days. More than 20 schools and organizations nominated students.

“We know how challenging the hurricane aftermath has been on people of all ages, but our hearts especially go out to the youngest victims who have lost their homes and whose lives have been turned upside down by these storms,” said WorldStrides CEO Jim Hall, “We are helping by doing what we do best, organizing an educational travel program for these students.”

The Hurricane Healing Trip will welcome selected students to Washington, D.C on February 17. They will enjoy three jam-packed days in the nation’s capital, visiting monuments, memorials, the White House and multiple museums. WorldStrides is collaborating with several of our partners, including United, Marriott Hotels, and D.C. Trails to cover the expenses of the trip.  We can’t wait to meet all the special young people who will be a part of this wonderful trip!
