Day 4 :
Continue in Seoul
See the Demilitarized Zone
Take a full day excursion to a Demilitarized Zone where you will tour Freedom Bridge, the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel and Dora Observatory.

Experience cooking Korean foods to get a taste for the cuisine. Cook a traditional Korean BBQ and work with Korea’s most important ingredient, a flavorful mix of fermented vegetables known as kimchi.

Travel to Jeonju and explore the Jeonju Hanok Village where old traditions are still practiced.
Gwangju City
Continue on to Gwangju City.

Travel to Boseong, home of a large green tea field that supplies 40% of the country’s green tea.

Return to Gwangju City and explore with a local guide.

Haeinsa

Discover Tripitaka Koreana at Haeinsa Temple. This collection of 81,258 wooden printing blocks is the most complete collection of the Buddhist Canon found in East Asia.
Transfer to Gyeongju
Day 8 :
Tour Gyeongju
Cultural Exploration
Spend the day touring Gyeongju, the old capital city of the Shilla Kingdom. Discover the cultural history of the Gyeongju district at the Gyeongju National Museum. Visit Bulguksa, one of Korea’s best known temples. See one of the world’s finest shrines of Buddha at Seoggram Grotto. Bulguksa Temple and Seoggram Grotto are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

Study and participate in the art of Sunmudo, a traditional Buddhist form of martial arts indigenous to the area. Learn the ways of Zen meditation while practicing balance and concentration.
Day 9 :
Travel back to Seoul
Yongin
Travel to Yongin and tour the Korean Folk Village, a living museum of life from several centuries ago.
Continue to Suwon
Then, see the Suwon Hwaseong Fortress.
Return to Seoul
Day 10 :
Return Home to the United States

Before heading home, visit the National Museum of Korea, a sanctuary of Korean culture (time permitting).

Up to Three College Credits Included with this Program
Through our Discovery for Credit Program, students traveling on an international WorldStrides program have the opportunity to earn academic credit by completing an online course that allows them to reflect upon many of the themes and topics explored during their travel program. Those in grades 6–12 at the time of travel can earn free elective high school credit upon successful completion of both the travel program and online course. Through our university partner, George Mason University, eligible students in grades 9-12 at the time of travel can earn up to three college credits upon successful completion of both the travel program and online course. Students who earn credit with WorldStrides will find this distinguishes them as online learners and gives them a jump-start on their path to a successful higher education experience.
