Explore Argentina with San Diego Mesa College

During the visit, we will see the most traditional attractions in the city, such as 9 de Julio Avenue, known as the widest in the world; the Obelisk, and cross the Avenida de Mayo, one of the first avenues the city ever had. We will continue to the Historical Complex of Plaza de Mayo (May Square) for a walking tour of the area, where we will see the Government House called Casa Rosada (Pink House), site of the Argentine National Government, next to the Metropolitan Cathedral and the historical Cabildo, site of the first Government born in our country. The tour continues south, to the oldest quarters of the city. Arrival to La Boca district, largest typical Italian district. We will walk along “Caminito”, considered nowadays an outside art gallery. The tour continues to the North towards July 9th Avenue to La Recoleta area, where French architectural influence will be seen houses, apartments, shops, streets, cafes and restaurants. Passing by the Exposition Centre of the city and the National Museum of Fine Arts and the green area of Palermo.

The Evita Museum is a dynamic space, created so one can feel, know and understand Evita through critical judgments and historical facts. Students will visit the museum to learn about the life and work of Evita, from her childhood in a small town in the province of Buenos Aires, to her journey to becoming a renowned actress and Juan Perón's wife. Juan was a beloved leader who was responsible for great changes in Argentine society. The Evita Museum reflects the need to rescue the woman buried behind the myth and to contribute to the historical knowledge of the figure of Eva Perón from a scientific and social perspective (entrance fee and guide included).

which in Guaraní language means "big waters", provides one of the greatest spectacles of water and forest ever existing on Earth. Explore the National Park and observe the tributaries of the rivers Paraná and Iguazú waterfalls. Admire balconies and panoramic views in permanent contact with nature, surrounded by jungle and animals such as monkeys, toucans, coatis, butterflies, various birds and insects. During this excursion, we will also visit a native Guaraní village in order to learn about Guaraní history, how they lived in the past, (hunting and gathering) and how they live today. Finally, we will go to the Hito de las Tres Fronteras, the border between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay.

The Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (MALBA) is an art museum with an ever-growing permanent collection of Latin American art. Highlights of the museum include works by Frida Kahlo, Roberto Matta, Diego Rivera, Joaquín Torres-García, Antonio Berni, Tarsila do Amaral, and Botero, among others. The MALBA also showcases diverse temporary exhibitions, often in collaboration with other international museums from around the world. Wander through the museum on your own and marvel at the building’s design and incredible art (self-guided, entrance fee included).
