Walking TourTake a walking tour of the Île de la Cité and the Île St-Louis, the oldest area of Paris, conquered by Julius Caesar in 53 BC.
Notre-Dame CathedralVisit Notre-Dame Cathedral. Work began in 1163 on a spot that had been a holy shrine since Roman times. Over the centuries, the cathedral has been the scene of some of France's most momentous occasions, including the coronation of Napoleon.
Seine River CruiseExperience the perfect introduction to the beauty of Paris on a Seine River Cruise. We will pass under many graceful bridges and view important landmarks on both banks during our trip.

Tour the renowned Louvre Museum with a local specialist guide. We will see Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa, the imposing Coronation of Napoleon, and many of the finest paintings and sculptures from Western civilization.
Musée National du Moyen AgeExplore the Musée National du Moyen Age—Thermes de Cluby, a historically rich site that requires some explanation. It is believed that boatmen built a massive bath complex in 3rd century Roman Paris (thermes means baths). In 1334 monastic leaders from the Cluny built a mansion over the baths. The National Museum of the Middle Ages is housed in these two spectacular monuments, featuring remarkable arts and crafts from medieval times.
Jardin du LuxembourgStroll through and spend time in the Jardin du Luxembourg, a beautiful Parisian park, which has always been associated with artists, including Watteau and Verlaine.
Dinner in local restaurantTonight we will enjoy dinner in a local restaurant in the Latin Quarter, a section of the city that dates back to the Roman times and is generally associated with artists, intellectuals, and political unrest.
Visit the Musée d'Orsay, which is housed in a former railway station. It features mainly French art from 1848-1915, and is best known for its impressionist masterpieces by Monet, Degas, Renoir, and Cezanne.
Musée RodinLearn about sculptor Auguste Rodin with a visit to the Musée Rodin. This 18th century mansion was the artist's residence from 1908 until his death in 1919. We will view most of his significant creations, including The Kiss and The Thinker.
Eiffel TowerAscend to the top of Paris' most recognizable landmark, the Eiffel Tower, built for the Universal Exhibition of 1889. The wrought-iron tower was not meant to be permanent—the first permit was only for 20 years. By that time, it had proved to be a valuable communication device for radio. It is now France's global icon and has hosted over 200 million visitors.

The small village of Giverny is best known as the home of Impressionist painter Claude Monet. A settlement has existed here since Neolithic times, and the quaint town is now an attraction in its own right.
Claude Monet's House and GardensExplore Claude Monet's House and Gardens, also known as the Fondation Claude Monet. The house is decorated in the original color schemes that Monet admired and the gardens are the subject of some of the artist's best-loved works, including the Water Lilies series.
Château d'AuversVisit the Château d'Auvers, a restored castle that takes us back to the time of the Impressionists.
Maison de van GoghVisit the Maison de van Gogh, the inn where Vincent spent his last months and the room where he died. A short film explains the work van Gogh completed while in Auvers-Sur-Oise.

Discover Monet's genius at the Musée Marmottan-Claude Monet. Holdings include many of his water lilies paintings, in addition to Impression: Sunrise, which gave the Impressionist movement its name.
Musée de l'OrangerieEnjoy the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist paintings of the Musée de l'Oragerie. The gallery resides in the old orangery of the Tuileries Palace.
Opera National de ParisTake a guided tour of the Opera National de Paris, founded by Louis XIV in 1669. The current Palais Garnier was inaugurated on January 15, 1875 and is the thirteenth theater to house the Paris Opera. Highlights of our tour will include: the Grand Staircase, built in marble of various colors; the Library-Museum, which houses a permanent gallery containing paintings, drawings, photographs, and scale models of sets; the richly decorated Grand Foyer; the Salon du Glacier; and the Auditorium dominated by the immense crystal chandelier hanging below Marc Chagall's brightly colored ceiling.

Marais QuarterExplore the Marais Quarter, whose history stretches back to the beginning of the city. The Marais features magnificent shops and cafes and is a perfect place to take in the Parisian lifestyle. While here, we will get a view of the La Palace des Vosges, the oldest square in Paris.
Musée PicassoVisit the Musée Picasso, featuring over 3,000 works that span 75 years of the artist's life and ever-changing style. Picasso's personal collection from his favorite artists is also on display. France acquired the collection by accepting it in lieu of $50 million in inheritance taxes from Picasso's descendants.
Place Igor StavinskyWalk through Place Igor Stavinsky, which features a fine contemporary fountain with mobile sculptures by Tinguely and Saint Phalle.
Pompidou CenterVisit the modern Pompidou Center. This colorful combination of steel, glass, pipes, and tubes houses the National Museum of Modern Art.
LEAP Cover the CanvasSacré-Coeur BasilicaVisit Sacré-Coeur Basilica, a huge white church that dominates the Parisian skyline. Construction of the church began in 1875 and ended in 1914, just before WWI. Inside, we can admire the stained glass and some of the world's largest mosaics.
Dinner in local restaurantTonight, we will ascend to the Montmartre area of Paris, where we will have dinner in a local restaurant. This area was made famous in the late 19th century as an artists' haunt.
Place du TertreWe will also spend time in the Place du Tertre, a square known for its local artwork.

Through our Discovery for Credit Program, students traveling on an international WorldStrides program have the opportunity to earn academic credit by completing an online course that allows them to reflect upon many of the themes and topics explored during their travel program. Those in grades 6–12 at the time of travel can earn free elective high school credit upon successful completion of both the travel program and online course. Through our university partner, George Mason University, eligible students in grades 9-12 at the time of travel can earn up to three college credits upon successful completion of both the travel program and online course.
