Discover the rich history of Taiwan on this immersive exploration of the island’s most important landmarks. Your students will explore the vast collection of the National Palace Museum, stroll through the vibrant Shilin Night Market, and join a professional local chef in the kitchen for a cooking lesson. Your group will also learn about Taiwan’s agricultural history during a visit to a local sugarcane production, create their own hand-beaded bags during a workshop, and discover Sun Moon Lake.

Day 1
Overnight flight to Taiwan (Taipei)
Day 2
Arrive in Taipei
Meet your Tour Director
Your 24-hour Tour Director will meet you at the airport and remain with your group until your final airport departure.
Day 3
Taipei guided sightseeing tour
Begin at Yangmingshan National Park, where volcanic landscapes and hot springs highlight Taiwan’s natural beauty. Explore the National Palace Museum, home to one of the world’s finest Chinese art collections. End at the National Revolutionary Martyrs’ Shrine, where solemn ceremonies honor those who served the nation.
Shilin night market visit
Explore one of Taipei’s largest and most famous night markets, packed with street food, games, and shops.
Day 4
Taiwanese cooking class experience
Join a professional chef to learn traditional dishes. Start with a market visit to pick fresh produce, then head to the kitchen to prepare your meal and enjoy the finished product.
Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall visit
The majestic hall rises above more than 60 acres of landscaped gardens, graceful pavilions, and ponds. Enter through a Ming-style arch, flanked by the National Theater and National Concert Hall. The square between them is a lively gathering place for festivals and celebrations.

Day 5
Travel to Taichung
Sugarcane production experience
The Baoshan area of Taiwan was once a major sugar-producing region. Today, visitors can tour local facilities, learn how sugar is processed, and even try their hand at making fresh sugarcane juice.
National Taichung Theater visit
The opera house, designed by renowned Japanese architect Toyo Ito, was notoriously difficult to construct due to its curved surfaces. Visit this architectural masterpiece and experience the graceful, mysterious ambience it creates.
Rainbow Village visit
Once a military housing estate, this quirky spot is now known for its brightly painted houses and alleys, making it one of the most colorful places in Taiwan.
Fengjia night market visit
Day 6
Travel to Sun Moon Lake
Sun Moon Lake excursion
Experience Taiwan’s most famous natural attraction on a scenic cruise across Sun Moon Lake, named for its sun- and moon-shaped shores. Ride the Sun Moon Lake Ropeway for sweeping views of the water and surrounding mountains as you ascend to the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village. There, walk through time exploring the homes and traditions of Taiwan’s main indigenous tribal groups.
Day 7
Travel to Taipei
Xinyi Wei Xiu District visit
Enjoy free time in Taipei’s Xinyi Wei Xiu District, a lively pedestrian area filled with shops, restaurants, and entertainment.
Hand-beaded bag workshop
Create your own beaded bag in a hands-on workshop inspired by a traditional Taiwanese craft.
Day 8
Yehliu Geopark visit
Yehliu is famous for its dramatic rock formations, sculpted by erosion into artistic shapes over time. The most iconic is the Queen’s Head, a slender stone pinnacle that has become a symbol of the area.
Taipei North Gate (Cheng’en Gate)
Built in 1884, Taipei North Gate, formally Cheng’en Gate, is the best-preserved of the old city gates and a designated National Monument. Its two-story blockhouse design features solid stone construction, traditional Chinese wooden roof trusses, and intricate carved ornamentation.
Tea tasting experience
Taiwanese tea is considered among the finest in the world. Enjoy a tasting while a tea master shares insights into its history, traditions, and quality.
Pingxi District excursion
Travel along the historic Pingxi Rail Line, once used to haul coal and now a nostalgic route through the Keelung River Valley. Stroll Shifen Station Old Street, where shops and homes line the tracks, before visiting Shifen Waterfall, Taiwan’s own “Niagara Falls.” Conclude with the Pingxi sky lantern experience, releasing lanterns once used as signals, now symbols of peace and good fortune.

In one click friends and family members can make a direct donation to the trip - with 100% of the money raised going to offset their trip price. Thousands of students pay for their entire trip each year through the Gift of Education.
