Introduce your students to the picturesque sights of Munich. Your class can look forward to exploring Marienplatz, the center of the city, and Olympia Park. Your students will also learn about Bavarian history on tours of nearby castles and experience local culture during a Bavarian dance class! Your group will reflect on the lasting impact of WWII through visits to Dachau Concentration Camp & Memorial and the War Crimes Trial Museum in Nuremberg.

Day 1
Overnight flight to Germany (Munich)
Day 2
Arrive in Munich
Meet your Tour Director
Your 24-hour Tour Director will meet you at the airport and remain with your group until your final airport departure.
Day 3
Munich guided sightseeing tour
Join a licensed guide for a whirlwind look at Munich, from its medieval heart to modern landmarks. Stroll through Marienplatz to see the Neues Rathaus and its famous Glockenspiel, framed by the twin towers of the Frauenkirche. Visit the Residenz, then explore Olympiapark, built for the 1972 Games, and step into BMW Welt to experience innovation and sleek design.
Traditional Bavarian dance class
Discover the links between traditional dance and Bavarian history. Listen and learn Bavarian music while participating in ancient folklore storytelling. You'll also learn (and demonstrate) a variety of traditional dance steps taught by local experts.
Bavarian bratwurst dinner
Enjoy Bavarian- or Berlin-style sausage with traditional sides. Bavarian sausage is made from veal and pork back bacon, while the Berlin style features fried pork.
Day 4
The Documentation Centre for the History of National Socialism visit
Dachau Concentration Camp & Memorial visit
Dachau, the first of Nazi Germany’s concentration camps, became the model for thousands that followed. Now a memorial and museum, it honors the 206,000 prisoners held here from 1933 to 1945 and traces the rise of the Nazi party, pre-1930s anti-Semitism, and the lives of those imprisoned.

Meet six influential figures from Germany’s history, then join a lively debate to argue their accomplishments and decide together who deserves the title of greatest German.
Day 5
Hohenschwangau excursion
Visit the Bavarian village of Hohenschwangau and learn about Hohenschwangau Castle, the childhood home of King Ludwig II, with views of Lake Alpsee and the surrounding Alps. Then enjoy a scenic hike toward Neuschwanstein Castle and pause at Queen Mary’s Bridge for an unforgettable photo stop of the fairytale fortress and mountain landscape.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen excursion
Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a charming Bavarian town famous for its breathtaking alpine landscapes, rich historical heritage, and vibrant local culture. The famous Ludwigstrasse in the heart of Partenkirchen is a charming street lined with traditional Bavarian buildings, quaint shops, and cozy cafes. It’s the perfect place to soak up the local atmosphere.
Day 6
Travel to Nuremberg
World War II Art Bunker guided tour
Discover the underground tunnels beneath Nuremberg Castle, where priceless artworks were safeguarded from wartime bombings. Explore the hidden passages, uncover the city's wartime history, and witness how its cultural heritage was preserved and restored.
Durer Haus visit
Step into Albrecht Dürer's House, the preserved home of the renowned Renaissance artist, where he lived and worked for nearly 20 years. Explore the historic rooms, see demonstrations of traditional printmaking techniques, and immerse yourself in the world of one of Germany’s most influential painters.
Day 7
Nuremberg guided sightseeing tour
Nuremberg is perhaps best known for its role in German politics. The city was the site of many Nazi rallies from 1933 to 1938. Unfortunately, 90% of the city was destroyed in 1945. The Allies chose Nuremberg as the site of the war crimes tribunals because of the city's ties to Nazi power.
Nazi Party Rally Grounds Museum visit
Unearth the causes, connections and consequences of Nazi Germany amidst the remains of the rally grounds where more than a million people gathered to support the National Socialists between 1933 and 1938. The museum’s sobering Fascination and Terror exhibition takes a deeper look at Nazi dictatorship and the history of party rallies during the Nazi regime.
War Crimes Trial Museum visit
Post-World War II, Nazi leaders were forced to answer for their crimes before the International Military Tribunal in Courthouse 600. Sit in the courtroom where history was rewritten at the Palace of Justice, then learn more about the Nuremburg Trials and how they influenced international criminal law. *Courtroom 600 is still an active courtroom and can only be viewed on days when court is not in session.

Return home
Optional Extension
Add 2 Days in Vienna
Travel via Salzburg, where you’ll visit Mozart’s birthplace, before continuing on to Austria’s capital. In Vienna, take a guided sightseeing tour that includes the Belvedere Palace, Hofburg Imperial Palace, the grand Opera House, and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Tour the lavish Schönbrunn Palace, once the summer residence of the Habsburgs, and enjoy a traditional Wiener Schnitzel dinner before heading home.

At program sign-up you can opt to pay in full, or break up the cost of your trip with the Advantage Payment Plan. This plan allows you to pay a small initial deposit, then have your remaining payments spread out into affordable monthly amounts.

In one click friends and family members can make a direct donation to the trip - with 100% of the money raised going to offset their trip price. Thousands of students pay for their entire trip each year through the Gift of Education.
