University of Arkansas Little Rock

Why Scotland?

The cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow contain wonderful examples of architecture, and several major museums with art from many different periods. Edinburgh has squares laid out by Robert Adam in the 18th century, and the National Gallery of Scotland. Glasgow has several sites by its most famous 19th century architect, Charles Rennie Macintosh, and has three important museums. In addition, there will be two excursions to the beautiful Scottish countryside, one to the Borders area to visit Abbotsford, the home of Sir Walter Scott, and one to the Highlands to see Loch Lomond. Students going on this study tour have options for upper-level or lower-level art history credit, or studio art elective credit, depending on the work done.
