4 End-of-Summer Activities to Get You Ready for School

Ready to get in the back-to-school mindset? As we count down the final days of summer, we’ve rounded up some fun end-of-summer activities that will help you transition back into a learning environment and get you thinking about your next travel adventure. Let’s do this!

Plan a road trip

With nearly 2,800 miles to explore from coast to coast, the United States offers an incredible blank slate for your next family adventure. Whether you’re looking to explore the rocky shores of New England, travel across the Midwest, or visit the sunny southern states, all you need to do is pick a destination and see where the road takes you. Here are ten road trip apps to help you start planning!

Learn a new fact about your state

We’ve all taken basic history about our home state, but there’s plenty more to learn outside of the classroom. For example, what’s the state bird, flower, or tree? What’s the weirdest law currently in effect? Can you name three famous residents of your state? Check out these fun facts to get started.

Visit a national or state park

The United States is home to 63 incredible national parks just waiting to be explored! Find out which park is closest to you and plan a day trip to hike, kayak, or camp with your family in one of these beautiful protected areas.

See if your hometown has a sister city

Sister Cities International was founded during the Eisenhower presidency in an attempt to connect communities around the world. According to the organization, “A relationship is officially recognized after the highest elected or appointed official from both communities sign off on an agreement to become sister cities.” You can use the City Search tool to find out if your hometown has a sister city, then do some research on that city’s culture and traditions.
