Your adventure, day by day

Day 1 : Departure from your airport
Arrive in San Jose

Transfer to Heredia

Orientation

Upon arrival, we will have an orientation session with our International Studies Abroad staff about the week ahead.

Heredia Homestay

Our home for the next six evenings will be with our homestay families in Heredia, where three meals will be provided daily.

Day 2 : Heredia
Walking Tour of Heredia

Take an introductory walking tour of Heredia; a refreshingly pleasant and relaxed Costa Rican city which is a great location for anyone looking for a truly unique Costa Rica experience. The city is emblematic of the Costa Rican lifestyle and makes for a perfect study abroad destination, showcasing pleasant plazas, lush green spaces and parks, and friendly people enjoying their days.

Day 3 : Language Classes begin in Heredia
Cook Costa Rican Style!

Create authentic local foods and sit down to savor your delicious creations.

Universidad Latina - Heredia

Begin our summer program taught by host university faculty at the Universidad Latina - Heredia.

Day 4 : Language Classes & Poas Volcano National Park
Poas Volcano

Visit the Poás Volcano National Park. Poás is an andesitic-basaltic strata-volcano 8,000ft high. It has the biggest geyser in the world and is impressively beautiful.

Independent Exploration

We will have some free time for shopping and exploration.

Take part in a soccer match at Universidad Latina.

Day 7 : Manuel Antonio National Park
Manuel Antonio National Park

Combining white sandy beaches with lush tropical forest, Manuel Antonio is the perfect place to see a variety of Costa Rican wildlife, from white-faced monkeys and sleepy-faced sloths, to green turtles and orange-and-black-shelled land crabs. Explore the cays and inlets of this national park.

Day 8 : Exploring the City of Manuel Antonio
Excursion to Manuel Antonio

Manuel Antonio is a city located in a beautiful region of Costa Rica facing the Pacific Ocean. From white sandy beaches to turquoise waters, this booming tourist town has something to offer to everyone who visits.

Day 9 : Manuel Antonio - Heredia
Travel from Manuel Antonio to Heredia

Our home for the next six evenings will be with our homestay families in Heredia, where three meals will be provided daily.

Day 10 : Language Classes & Dance Lessons
Dance Lesson

This evening, enjoy a dance lesson conducted by professional instructors at the Universidad Latina.

Day 11 : Language Classes (Heredia)
Visit the National Theater

Designed after the Opera House in Paris, it is considered to be Costa Rica's most important architectural landmark.

Juegos Tradicionales

Enjoy taking part in some 'Juegos Tradicionales', or traditional Costa Rican games.

Independent Exploration

We will have some free time for shopping and exploration.

Day 14 : Rio Negro Tubing Adventure
Rio Negro Tubing Adventure

After a safety briefing, we will each get our own personal round raft and begin our tour and Rio Negro Tubing Adventure down the white water rapids in the Rio Negro.

Farewell Dinner

Tonight, we will enjoy a special farewell dinner as a group to bring closure to your experience.
