Overview
Explore the heart of Western art and culture on this tour through four of Europe’s most iconic cities. Begin in Spain’s vibrant capital city, exploring can’t-miss sites like the Prado, the Royal Palace, and the Reina Sofia Museum. Then, your students can look forward to exploring beautiful Barcelona, including stops at the Picasso Museum and Gaudi’s architectural marvel, the Sagrada Familia. In Florence, your class will trace the wide range of cultural and religious forces that shaped early modern Italy through visits to the Accademia Gallery and the Ponte Vecchio, before traveling back in time to the Renaissance for a lively debate. Your time in Italy comes to an end in Rome, where students will explore the Colosseum and Vatican City.

Reina Sofia Museum visit
Officially Spain’s National Museum of 20th Century Art, the Reina Sofía houses masterpieces by Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. Its most famous work is Picasso’s Guernica, a powerful anti-war statement. Beyond the galleries, the museum also offers a vast library, archive, bookstore, and restaurant, making it a hub of art and culture.

Travel to Barcelona via high-speed AVE train
La Pedrera - Casa Milà visit
This magnificent building is the epitome of Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí’s fantastical style. See how he uses twisted pillars, curved archways and warped metal balconies to create a totally unique design all his own.
Day 5
Barcelona guided sightseeing tour
Discover Barcelona with a licensed guide as you explore its mix of Gothic charm and modernist brilliance. Visit Plaza de España, then marvel at Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia, the soaring church that defines the city’s skyline. Wander through Park Güell with its colorful mosaics and sweeping views, and journey to Montjuïc Hill, home to historic fortresses and the 1992 Olympic grounds.
Gaudí’s Sagrada Família guided visit
This breathtaking church, considered the masterpiece of architect Antoni Gaudí, has been under construction since 1882 and is expected to be completed in 2026. Despite its unfinished state, its 18 soaring towers soar above Barcelona’s skyline, making it a must-see landmark.
Picasso Museum visit
Take an unparalleled glimpse into the development of Picasso’s genius. Bringing together the Spaniard’s early and late works, the museum traces the evolution of Picasso’s art from his realism-based schoolboy exercises of the1890s through his Blue Period in 1904, and then jumps into the artist’s remarkable late work. A series of 1950s oil paintings shows Picasso’s explorations of Velazquez’s Las Meninas, in which he transforms the original into a perspective-shifting explosion of color and line.

Pisa half-day excursion (optional)
Head to Pisa to see the famous leaning tower. In the Square of Miracles, you'll also discover the cathedral and the baptistry.

LEAP Great Renaissance Debate
Greet six renaissance giants including Giotto, Galileo, and Isabella d’Este, and debate who made the greatest impact on civilization.
Travel to Rome

Colosseum visit with Whisper headset, Arch of Constantine, Forum Romanum visit
Rome city walk
Discover Rome’s iconic landmarks on a guided walk. At the Spanish Steps, see the “sinking ship” fountain, designed that way because of low water pressure that forced the artist to sink it below street level. Marvel at the Trevi Fountain’s Baroque grandeur, the Pantheon’s soaring dome, and Piazza Navona, where Bernini’s Fountain of the Four Rivers anchors the bustling square.

Discover the ancient secrets of the Roman gladiator games and master the basics of hand-to-hand combat at the gladiator school.
