Health and Safety

  • Do I need to be vaccinated to travel?

WorldStrides does not have a vaccine mandate, however all participants must still follow the health and safety-related entry requirements for the countries they visit outside the U.S. Each individual traveler is responsible for meeting these requirements.

  • How do I get in touch with my child in case of an emergency?

If your child does not have their own mobile phone, you can contact your Program Leader (teacher/coach) directly or call our 24/7 WorldAssist team to request a call back from your child and Program Leader.

  • How do you handle allergies or dietary restrictions while on tour?

We understand navigating food allergies and sensitivities can be challenging, and encourage parents and participants to share this information with us before traveling. By doing so, we can ensure our vendors are informed and prepared. We also kindly remind each participant to take personal responsibility in avoiding any food that may pose a risk to their health. Your safety and well-being are our top priorities, and we're here to support you.

  • Will I need vaccinations to travel abroad?

WorldStrides does not have a vaccine mandate, however all participants must still follow the health and safety-related entry requirements for the countries they visit outside the U.S. Each individual traveler is responsible for meeting these requirements.

  • How will my student get their medication during the program?

Your Program Leader is responsible for determining the procedures for distribution of medication to students. In many cases, this process is dependent on the nature of the medication and the age of the children. If a medication requires refrigeration, we will do our best to arrange for a refrigerator in hotel rooms when possible. We recommend reminding your Program Leader about any medication needs during registration.

  • What happens if students are unable to return home at scheduled time?

An adult chaperone will stay behind to coordinate with the WorldStrides on-the-ground staff who are facilitating return plan alternatives. At the same time, our 24/7 WorldAssist travel experts will work on resolving any issues quickly with both our local staff and the chaperones.

  • What if my child has a disability or special need?

WorldStrides welcomes participants of all kinds and makes every effort to accommodate a student’s special needs. For educator-led programs, students should ask the teacher leading their program to contact his or her WorldStrides Account Manager regarding any special needs so we can take care of the necessary arrangements.

Please note that there may be some activities in which a student is unable to participate, and that some bus companies and hotels overseas are not wheelchair accessible. WorldStrides will be happy to work with anyone who has mobility or other issues to try to make it possible for them to participate. Additionally, we recommend that students with special needs investigate their destination(s) to make sure any special care would be available, and consult with a physician prior to travel.

  • What happens if my child cannot travel on the day of departure?

We understand life can be unpredictable, and plans may change at the last minute. If you find yourself needing to cancel on the day of departure, please be aware that WorldStrides will need to retain 100% of your investment. Please contact WorldStrides Customer Support for more details.

  • What are the travel procedures in case of emergencies?

To successfully navigate situations small and large, WorldStrides has developed detailed response plans for all types of major emergencies. These plans are created in accordance with the best practices outlined by the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of State, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Should a disruption occur while your child is traveling on a program, the WorldStrides World Assist team will be in contact with your group and will have the latest information for you.
