Smithsonian University Travel Programs
Medical, Law, and Other Professional Programs
University and business school education cannot be done exclusively at a distance; it requires hands-on exploration. Our travel delivers it—through meetings with industry executives, firsthand experience with cultures and companies, and direct encounters of the practice behind the theory.
Our programs have spanned more than 100 countries on 6 continents, and we're always opening new markets for adventurous groups who want to experience new parts of the world. We believe this kind of global reach makes our capabilities as agile as your imagination!
From J-term to summer break, four days to four weeks - we're accustomed to custom! We fit every aspect of your travel itinerary to your specific curriculum, your university regulations, and your budget. And of course, we design every program to complement the sensibilities of your travelers—from undergraduate up to executive education.
You name it, we've thought of it. In addition to program development and day-to-day logistics, we routinely shoulder the responsibilities of visa processing, registration, hedging currency, and so much more.
Our goal is to function as a seamless extension of your university staff. That means you get the behind-the-scenes power of our sizeable WorldStrides team, and the convenience of working with a single person—your own dedicated account manager.
Proactivity and agility are hallmarks of our service. Our crisis team has decades of experience meeting challenges of all scopes, from lost passports to complex, unplanned emergencies. Our priority on preparedness is designed to ensure your group gets an optimum experience—on every program!

Safe and Secure
Highest Standards in Preparedness, Most Agile in Response
At the university level, risk management is serious business. And with nearly 50 years of experience in educational travel, WorldStrides’ exceptional safety record makes it clear that “safety and security” is more than just a maxim to us. Our policies are a reflection of our dedication to detailed planning and our 24/7 flexibility to respond to the unexpected.
Our philosophy starts with a real understanding of political, religious, and cultural issues in countries around the world. We partner with leading risk organizations, government agencies, and on-the-ground partners to gather insights that traditional travel companies don’t have. Our management team undergoes extensive training and scenario analysis to prepare for when crises do happen, and when they are sleeping, our highly-trained WorldStrides 24/7 Tour Central team is awake and working. And that’s really just the start.
Here’s an example. In January 2014, protesters shutdown the streets of Bangkok with an organized political action. Watch to learn about how WorldStrides handled this unexpected political crisis with diligent pre-departure planning and agile response in partnership with four schools traveling to Thailand during this time.
