Summer at Hanyang University

Courses at Hanyang University are worth 3-9 credits, which is equivalent to 3-9 U.S. semester credits or 4.5-13.5 U.S. quarter credits.

Credits earned vary according to the policies of your home institution. Our enrollment policy and possible visa implications require you to maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by your home institution, during your program.

Your transcript cover letter will include recommendations for transfer credits, but determination of credit transfer and course equivalencies is ultimately determined by your home institution. Be sure to speak with your home university regarding credit transfer for this program.

You can enroll in up to 3 courses or in a research course (3 - 6 Hanyang credits) plus one additional course. The research projects are conducted through Hanyang University and facilitated by host university professors. Research supervisors will review your applications for their project and rank the applications they are willing to accept. A virtual interview with applicants may be arranged to determine placement. Course registration opens in April, so we recommend students submit all application materials by prior to then to ensure they can register in the first round of enrollment. You'll be able to make changes up until the first week of classes during the add/drop period.

Hanyang University does not pre-approve your course selections, so it is your responsibility to select courses that you are qualified to take while abroad (i.e., don’t take high-level courses if you haven’t taken the appropriate introductory-level courses).

Samples of previous research projects:

• Phycoremediation: You'll be engaged in a lab-scale system for the wastewater treatment using microalgae. You'll follow the batch reactor setup experiments according to the ongoing research projects, get basic training and demonstration of these experiments on the wastewater treatment and waste management, and conduct the research and obtain the research data independently.

• Big Data Analytics Using Industrial AI: You'll learn the basics of big data analytics using industrial artificial intelligence, e.g., statistical methods, machine learning, deep learning. To perform predictive maintenance using Big data, you'll learn how to pre-process a large size of data with a number of variables, extract meaningful features for health indicators, and diagnose anomalies, predict faults, and reasoning for finding root causes of the faults.
