Program Details
KU Leuven is a world-class center for interdisciplinary research and scholarly exchange. As a EuroScholars participant, you'll join a research team—choosing from diverse fields like human health, bio‑sciences, energy, arts, or social sciences—and contribute meaningfully to ongoing academic work.
Beyond the lab, Leuven’s charming mix of medieval architecture and lively student neighborhoods creates a truly immersive European experience. You’ll benefit from robust on-site support, including orientation, access to housing, and a student buddy network.
During the semester, a Mid-Stay Program will be organized for all EuroScholars students at one of the host institutions. Travel and lodging expenses for students traveling to attend are included. The Mid-Stay Program will consist of an academic portion, in which students will present their research findings up to that point of the semester, as well as social activities around the host city.
Your semester will blend rigorous research with cultural exploration—whether that’s strolling historic squares, joining student associations, or hopping on a train to visit nearby European capitals. It’s a semester of professional and personal growth in one of Europe’s most inspiring university cities.
Program eligibility:
A minimum GPA of 3.4 or higher
Currently enrolled at a 4-year institution with sophomore standing (at time of participation)
Demonstrated academic background in the field of study and the specialization chosen
Strong interest in conducting academic research
Research projects in the Natural Sciences, including practical laboratory work, require ample laboratory experience
Dates & Fees
Choose the term that fits your schedule and academic goals, so you can stay on track while exploring the world. All forms and payments are due approximately two weeks after the application deadline.

Housing
After you're accepted, you'll work directly with your EuroScholars host institution on your housing assignment. The option listed below is an example of the typical student housing offering. All utilities and internet are included; additional security deposit may be required. A meal plan is not included but may be available for purchase through your host institution.
