Semester at Yonsei University

Your transcript cover letter will include recommendations for transfer credits, but determination of credit transfer and course equivalencies is ultimately determined by your home institution. Be sure to speak with your home university regarding credit transfer for this program.

You'll enroll in 4 - 5 courses for the semester. Most courses are 3 credits each. You must enroll in a minimum of 12 credits, maximum of 18 credits.

The South Korea Academic year begins each February. As you review course options, keep this in mind to ensure that you select courses from the correct term.

• Semester 1: February – June (US Spring Semester)

• Semester 2: August – December (US Fall Semester)

We have an integrated direct enrollment model with Yonsei University. By enrolling directly, you'll have access to a majority of the courses offered throughout the university’s academic departments and have the opportunity to attend many of the same classes as local and international students who are looking to improve their English-language skills.

Courses for Spring are not finalized until late January and courses for Fall are not finalized until late July. We recommend using the previous year’s course list until the new course list is updated. Although courses do not change tremendously from year-to-year, please be aware that you may need to make additional selections once the course list is officially published.

Undergraduate course numbers range from 1000 (lower division) to 4000 (upper division). 5000-level courses and above are graduate courses and therefore not available to you.

Selecting your major:

We will select your Yonsei Major based on the courses you submit through your course selection form and the answers you submit on your Yonsei Study Plan (through your portal). This step is very important, as some courses are only available if you are applied under the correct Yonsei Major. Your Yonsei Major does not necessarily need to match your home university’s major, it just relates to the courses you want to take at Yonsei. For example, if you want to take courses under the Business Administration department (BIZ), you MUST include at least one BIZ course in your form so that we apply you as a Yonsei Business Major. Note: only students majoring in business at their home university can take four Business Administration (BIZ) courses at Yonsei.

Unique course opportunities:

• Yonsei’s Office of International Affairs (OIA) offers “Study Abroad Courses” which are exclusively open to exchange/visiting students only. There are approximately 55 courses, and they are conducted entirely in English. These course codes begin with IEE. The IEE coded courses can be found under College = Study Abroad Course in Undergraduate level.

• Special Intensive Korean Language Courses are offered for international exchange and visiting students at Yonsei University through their Korean Language Institute.
