Spend your summer exploring global health and medical Spanish at Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia (UPCH), one of Peru’s top-rated universities. Designed for advanced Spanish speakers pursuing careers in healthcare, this program combines rigorous academics with meaningful real-world experience. You’ll take two core courses—Medical Spanish and Community Health—and work alongside UPCH physicians in local clinics, serving low-income communities and deepening your cross-cultural understanding of public health. An advanced level of Spanish proficiency is required as all courses are taught in Spanish by expert UCPH faculty.

We'll help you make the most of your time abroad with immersive excursions and interactive activities throughout your program. We'll also host an in-depth orientation when you arrive to help you navigate the city, university, and your new home – all included in your program. From sandboarding in the desert and exploring ancient ruins to learning about conservation efforts in the Amazon and feeding alpacas in the Andes, this program offers an ideal mix of hands-on learning and cultural exploration.

Pair your studies with a community engagement opportunity for the potential to earn credit while making a meaningful impact in your host community abroad. Serve alongside a local organization and engage in reflective assignments that deepen your understanding of social issues and enhance your intercultural skills. Our local network in Lima includes organizations that specialize in family and youth development, healthcare, education, community development, and human rights.

Home Away from Home
After you've applied, you'll complete a housing questionnaire that will help us match your preferences with the available options. Housing assignments are on a first-come, first-served basis, so complete this form as soon as you're able! We strive to match your housing preferences as best we can, but requests cannot be guaranteed.
The options listed below are based on double-occupancy with another international student, unless otherwise noted. Single rooms may be available upon request for an additional fee. Meals and laundry service are not included unless otherwise specified. All utilities and internet are included, though you may be charged an additional fee should your consumption exceed the allotted monthly amount. A refundable security deposit may be required for some options.
