Program Details
Málaga’s relaxed beach-town vibe and deep historical roots make it an ideal place to advance your Spanish skills while experiencing authentic Andalusian culture. Open to students at all levels of Spanish proficiency, this program offers an immersive summer of language development at the Universidad de Málaga’s Centro Internacional de Español. Courses for students from beginning to advanced Spanish levels are available, as well as a variety of electives in English. Beginning and intermediate Spanish courses are held with international students, while advanced-level courses and electives in English are offered to WorldStrides students only. Extend your studies and expand your language proficiency by pairing two summer sessions together.

Whether you need help navigating life abroad or just want local recommendations, we’re here to ensure your experience is safe, supported, and unforgettable.
We’ll help you make the most of your time abroad with immersive excursions and interactive activities throughout your program. We’ll also host an in-depth orientation when you arrive to help you navigate the city, academic culture, and your new home – all included in your program. From practicing your Spanish in class to enjoying a boat ride around Málaga Bay, you’ll experience a vibrant cultural immersion that complements your academic growth.

Located just five minutes from the beach in the scenic El Palo neighborhood, the Universidad de Málaga (UMA) welcomes international students to its Centro Internacional de Español, where Spanish language and culture courses are offered in a relaxed, engaging environment. With over 75 years of experience teaching Spanish to foreign students, UMA provides an ideal setting to improve your language skills while soaking in the coastal lifestyle.

Housing
After you've applied, you'll complete a housing questionnaire that will help us match your preferences with the available options. Housing assignments are on a first-come, first-served basis, so complete this form as soon as you're able! We strive to match your housing preferences as best we can, but requests cannot be guaranteed.
The options listed below are based on double-occupancy with another international student, unless otherwise noted. Single rooms may be available upon request for an additional fee. Meals and laundry service are not included unless otherwise specified. All utilities and internet are included, though you may be charged an additional fee should your consumption exceed the allotted monthly amount. A refundable security deposit may be required for some options.
