Semester at Hanyang University

Your transcript cover letter will include recommendations for transfer credits, but determination of credit transfer and course equivalencies is ultimately determined by your home institution. Be sure to speak with your home university regarding credit transfer for this program.

If you elect to take Korea language courses, they will appear on a separate transcript from Hanyang’s Institute of International Education.  These courses are non-credit bearing at Hanyang University; however, for universities that may award credit, the institute will issue a transcript for the student.

For the semester, you'll enroll in 4 - 5 courses.

Each course is typically worth 3 semester credits or 45 contact hours. Classes typically meet for 3 hours per week for 16 weeks. We recommend enrolling in 12 - 15 credits total; however, you have the option to enroll in up to 20 credits per semester.

We have an integrated direct enrollment model with Hanyang University. By enrolling directly, you'll have access to a majority of the courses offered throughout the university’s academic departments and have the opportunity to attend many of the same classes as local and international students who are looking to improve their English-language skills.

You'll enroll in courses approximately 3 weeks prior to departure and will have the opportunity to make changes during the add/drop period once classes begin. You'll complete an online course registration process prior to arriving on campus, which allows you to register into classes at the same time as local Korean students.

Hanyang University does not pre-approve your course selections, so it is your responsibility to select courses that you are qualified to take while abroad (i.e., don’t take high-level courses if you haven’t taken the appropriate introductory-level courses).
