Internships & Experiential Learning

Please discuss credit transfer with your home university prior to departure. Credits earned varies according to the policies of your home institution. You must maintain full-time enrollment status, as determined by your home institution, for the duration of the program to satisfy our enrollment policy and avoid potential visa implications.

Transcripts for Summer programs are issued by the FUA at the end of the term, arriving 2 - 3 months following the end of the Summer. Students are able to request an expedited FUA transcript before arriving onsite for an additional fee.

Upon program completion, you will receive a transcript issued directly from the Florence University of the Arts (FUA). If you require a U.S. transcript, you have the option to request a School of Record transcript from the University of South Florida (USF) for an additional cost ($185-$530) depending on the number of credits you are taking at FUA. The University of South Florida serves as the U.S. School of Record for FUA and this benefit is also extended to our students. Please speak with your program manager for information regarding this transcript option.

During this 6-week session, you'll have the option to choose between an internship or an experiential learning.

Internship: You'll work independently at a local business for approximately 20 hours per week. Evening and weekend shifts may be required. You'll gain real-world experience during this opportunity. The following materials are required in addition to our standard application: cover letter; resume (other materials may be requested); and virtual interview. Some placements require an Italian language proficiency test. Note: this is an unpaid internship with no faculty instruction or supervision.

Experiential Learning Courses:

• You'll participate in lectures Monday - Friday in addition to experiential or field hours that must be completed in addition to regular class meetings.

• Courses labeled "Special Project" include experiential or field hours with no regular class meetings. These real-world projects give you the opportunity to work with the local community through on campus organizations and gain hands-on experience. The experiential learning hours are fully supervised by instructors who will monitor your progress and advise you during your experience.

3-credits are included in the program price; there is an additional fee of $1,300 for 6-credit courses. Some courses may require materials (resume, portfolio, interview, etc) in addition to our standard application and/or additional fees for materials and field trips which are to be paid directly to the host university. Fees typically range from €20 to €150.

Courses and course hours of instruction are subject to change. The courses below reflect the most current list of courses released by the host university. Eligibility for internship and courses may be subject to a placement exam and/or prerequisites. Course availability is based on enrollment numbers. We offer course level recommendations for the courses listed below. Please note that the course level recommendations are based on the Florence University of the Arts (FUA) subject difficulty levels and course codes. Course numbers generally adhere to the following guidelines:

• 100 - 299 Lower division courses

• 300 - 399 Upper division courses

• 600 - 699 Graduate Courses

Students who have taken at least 4 semesters of college (juniors or seniors) may be permitted to enroll in graduate level courses. It is your responsibility to get any graduate level courses (and credits) approved by your home institution.

These recommendations are intended to facilitate the determination of course equivalencies by advisers and credential evaluators at participants' U.S. home institutions.

If you do not meet the 2.75 minimum GPA requirement, you may submit a letter of recommendation and a statement of purpose to be considered for an exception.
