Students from the Goizueta Business School Evening MBA program at Emory University traveled to sunny Portugal and Spain for a week-long global business intensive. The group began their immersive business experience at the bustling Port of Barcelona, where students heard from the executive of a local transport company about the intricacies of international business logistics.
The group also got the chance to participate in a hands-on workshop at a global R&D firm that specializes in the wellness industry and met with the Chief Brand Officer of an international automotive group.
In Lisbon, students had an immersive introduction to the food & beverage industry, touring a factory mid-production, testing cutting-edge technology at a brewery, and meeting with the Head of Technology and Data Transformation at a global beverage export company.
The group also met with leaders at Nokia and S.L. Benfica, the local professional football club, to workshop methods of engaging a global fanbase in the 21st century.
In between immersive visits with executives and hands-on workshops, students enjoyed several group dinners, a guided walking tour along Barcelona’s most elegant architectural avenue, Passeig de Gràcia, a personalized introduction to Portuguese history, culture, and lifestyle in the stylish Baixa and Chiado neighborhoods, and ample free time to explore on their own.
Program leaders chose Barcelona for its high-energy atmosphere, colorful Gaudi architecture, and lively culture, adding in Lisbon to give the program an extra element of history, charm, and business content to provide a well-rounded program.
