Day 1 :
Welcome to America's Historic Triangle!
Arrive in Williamsburg, VA,
Meet your WorldStrides Course Leader and prepare for a trip back in time to visit Colonial America. As you feel the excitement of the city, imagine the hardships and the struggles of gaining independence.
Bacon’s Castle
Take a ferry ride to Surry, VA, where you’ll visit Bacon’s Castle. Tour this 17th century
architectural gem that was named after the notorious Nathaniel Bacon and the rebellion
he led.
Return to Williamsburg, VA
Dinner and Hotel Check-In
Day 2 :
Explore Colonial Williamsburg.
BreakfastColonial Williamsburg
Enjoy a fast-paced walking tour of Colonial Williamsburg. This hands-on
exploration will provide your students with clues leading them to various colonial trade shops.
Students will collaborate and think creatively to solve each clue, and then enter the trade shops to
participate in reenactments and learn about everyday life in 18th-century Williamsburg.
LunchColonial Williamsburg
Continue your visit with a stop at the Governor’s Palace, where seven
Royal Governors and the first two Governors of Virginia – Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson
– resided. Participate in Revolutionary City, an interactive “street theatre,” visit Great Hopes
Plantation, a “middling” farm, and experience different aspects of colonial life as you see the jail,
Capitol, and post office.
DinnerEvening Program**
Experience 18th-century African stories as you and your students participate
in a dynamic performance with costumed interpreters.
Day 3 :
Travel to Charlottesville, VA.
Breakfast and depart for Charlottesville, VA.Monticello
Tour Thomas Jefferson’s plantation home, as well as the grounds and gardens where
he cultivated hundreds of different fruits and vegetables.
Lunch at Michie Tavern
Tour this historic tavern built in 1784 and enjoy a meal of traditional
18th-century-style fare. Discuss 18th-century Virginia with costumed guides and servers.
University of Virginia
Explore Jefferson’s Academical Village as you visit the Rotunda and the
Lawn.
Return to Williamsburg, VA.Study Visit
Spend the remainder of the day exploring Colonial Williamsburg.

Day 4 :
Discover Yorktown and More!
BreakfastYorktown Victory Center
Learn about life in Virginia during the Revolutionary War by visiting a
Continental Army encampment, galleries, and farmstead.
Yorktown Battlefields
Drive to Surrender Field, the location where the British surrendered
to General Washington’s army, the most decisive event of the American Revolution. Walk to
Cornwallis’ cave on the riverfront and through the town where there are still 18th-century musket
balls lodged in some houses.
LunchShirley Plantation
Tour Virginia’s first plantation, which dates back to 1613. Shirley Plantation
offers 11 generations of family history and an intimate study of a way of life spanning three
centuries. (Endview Plantation may be substituted)
DinnerEvening Program**
Discover what it was like to be in the Continental Army through interactive
discussions, weapons demonstrations, and a lesson on 18th-century marching practices.
Day 5 :
Encounter Jamestown
Breakfast and Hotel Check-Out
Description
Jamestown Glasshouse and Jamestowne Island
(time permitting) Watch glassblowing and
then tour the original site of the Jamestown colony at Jamestowne Island.
LunchVoorhees Archaearium
Explore this museum of excavated artifacts and exhibits about our
nation’s first permanent English settlement.
Jamestown Settlement
Take a guided tour, where you’ll see a replica of the original Jamestown
Colony, a reconstructed Powhatan Indian Village and a replica of the James Fort.
Dinner and Depart Williamsburg, VA, for Home.

When registering, you'll need to use the Trip ID assigned to your program. Each ID is unique and can also be found on the registration information provided to you by the educator leading this program.

What's included in the cost of a domestic or high school international program?
Every program is customized and what's included may vary from trip to trip. A typical program includes transportation (air or motor coach), hotel accommodations, meals, a daily guide (Course Leader or Tour Director), sightseeing activities, and immersive educational content. All programs also include all of our safety provisions and support.
The registration letter provided by the teacher leading your program has all the inclusion details for your specific program.
Can students earn academic credit from their travel programs?
Yes! We love when students get credit for learning. This helps them get a step ahead, whether its for a college application or for a future career.
All middle programs include the opportunity to earn free high school credit. Our Perspectives programs offer high school students the opportunity to earn three free college preparatory credits. Most of our higher education programs include credit from the academic institution of record.
Our online courses make it easy to earn credit at a student's own pace. WorldStrides offers coursework that has been carefully designed to combine the field experience with online assignments that demonstrate achievement of learning objectives. Acceptance of credit is always at the discretion of the receiving institution. Click here for more information.
