The Portuguese Soccer Experience: Lisbon and Porto

Football is by far the most popular sport in Portugal and is played by more youth than any other sport. Portugal's national team is among the top-rated teams in both Europe and the world and compete in World Cup and Euro Cup competitions regularly. The Primeira Liga is the top Portuguese football league with the top 16 teams competing, including Benefica, Sporting Lisbon and FC Porto. Portugal has produced many talented players, including Ronaldo and Figo.

Lisbon city walk

This port city was once the entrance point for exotic wares from the far-flung corners of Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Get lost in the Alfama, a maze of streets where houses are so close together, you can spread your arms out and touch the buildings on both sides of the street! Stroll along the cobblestone pedestrian malls and Lisbon's main street, the Avenida da Liberdade.

Castelo de Sao Jorge visit

Explore the Castle of Sao Jorge, the nucleus of the original city inhabited by the Phoenicians and subsequently by every other conquering culture.

Attend a professional soccer match

Attend a professional soccer match featuring teams from the top leagues. Seeing the top talent in the world in person would itself be an unforgettable experience, but add the passionate crowds singing, cheering, and chanting, and you will enter an atmosphere that can only be understood through personal experience.

Estadio da Luz guided visit

Take a guided tour of Estadio da Luz, home to Benfica. The stadium reflects the greatness of its host club and is the biggest and most modern sports venue in Portugal. Since its inauguration, the stadium has hosted over 11 million spectators and countless matches and events.

Play an international friendly match against a local club or academy team. Your team will meet and compete against athletes of similar ages and skill levels and have the opportunity to make friends for life.

Day 5 : Lisbon
Benfica Coaching Clinic

Participate in a special coaching clinic with a guest coach, player or instructor. The clinic will be designed exclusively for the team and to enhance skills in areas identified by the coaching staff. Take a walk through the training facilities and have access to the players' lounge.

Day 6 : Lisbon—Porto
Travel to Porto

Porto is a coastal city in northwest Portugal known for its stately bridges and port wine production. In the medieval Ribeira (riverside district), narrow cobbled streets wind past merchants' houses and cafes. São Francisco Church is known for its lavish baroque interior with ornate gilded carvings. The palatial 19th-century Palácio de Bolsa, formerly a stock market, was built to impress potential European investors.

Porto city walk

Take a walking tour of Porto, one of Portugal's most stunning cities. This city is located off the coast of Portugal and is known for its colorful buildings. Not just a bustling seaside city, Porto is also home to botanical gardens and extravagant baroque churches with soaring bell towers. Ascend the Torre dos Clerigos (Clerics' Tower), which became the tallest structure in Portugal when completed in 1763. The main feature of the city's skyline, ships used it as a guide when coming into Cais da Ribeira. The top of the tower offers spectacular views of the city.

Estadio do Dragao guided visit

Tour Dragon's Stadium, home to Futebol Clube do Porto, one of the best clubs in Portugal. The stadium was inaugurated on November 16, 2003 and has the capacity to hold 50,035 spectators. You can also visit the Museum of the Club.

Day 8 : Porto
Porto Cathedral visit

The Porto Cathedral is the most important religious edifice in the city and has been declared a National Monument. The construction of the Cathedral began during the twelfth century, but it was rebuilt and renovated numerous times throughout the centuries. The temple is predominantly Baroque in style, although its façade and the nave are Romanesque and its cloister and one of the chapels are Gothic in style.

Palacio do Bolsa guided visit

Tour the Palacio do Bolsa and see its grand Arabian Room which was inspired by Granada's Alhambra.

Free time at the beach

Spend some time relaxing on one of Porto's magnificent beaches. Enjoy the sun and watch the surfers as you relax for the day. The beaches have numerous activities available for everyone to enjoy.
