Day 3 : Athens
Athens guided sightseeing tour

Athens is one of the oldest and greatest cities of Western civilization, with a recorded history that extends back 3,400 years. During the Classical Era, Athens was a center for the arts, learning, and philosophy. It was the home of Plato's Academy and Aristotle's Lyceum. Modern Athens is still a vibrant city with a rich culture that takes great pride in its long and complex history. Visit the Acropolis, which has overlooked Athens for over 2,000 years; habitation traces indicate that it was occupied as early as the Neolithic Age. View the Temple of Athena Nike, and its successor, The Parthenon. Syntagma Square, located directly in front of the Old Royal Palace, is the central square of Athens. The Agora, or marketplace, is located at the base of the Acropolis. It has been a meeting place for thousands of years, going through cycles of destruction and rebuilding. Signs of its changing nature are abundant.

Explore the ruins and well-preserved walls and palaces throughout the city. Discover Corinth with its various ruins, most notably the imposing Temple of Apollo. Try to envision what the marketplace above may have been like during the 6th century.

Day 6 : Athens
Delphi guided sightseeing tour

Prophet from the past. Explore the impressive ruins at Delphi, which the Greeks considered the center of the world. Within the depths of the Temple of Apollo, a priestess would inhale intoxicating vapors that used to rise from the earth and deliver the prophecies of Apollo. Modern visitors might find more inspiration in the view from Mount Parnassus, over 8000 feet high. Gain an understanding of what the Oracle might have looked like at the Delphi Museum.

Dinner

Day 7 : Athens
Cape Sounion guided excursion

Contemplate the sea god Poseidon from his temple perched high atop the hill of Cape Sounion, the southern-most tip of Central Greece. Stand among the tall, marble pillars rising from the slippery slabs of rock and look out over the calm blue Aegean Sea. The Temple of Poseidon, built around the same time as the Parthenon (between 450-440 BC), is a refreshing point of calm after the chaos of modern Athens.

Exhibition game

Play an international exhibition game against a local club or university team in the Athens area. Your team will meet and compete against athletes of similar ages and skill levels.

Dinner

Day 8 : Athens
Hydra excursion

Travel by boat to Hydra, one of the Saronic Islands of Greece. Enjoy a visit on foot as motor vehicles are not allowed on the island. Some famous landmarks we will see include the Captains' Mansion and the Cathedral of the Assumption. The inauguration of the Temple was before the 17th century. The Temple today is a live museum of art and the most important Church of Hydra.
