Teacher Wins WorldStrides Trip to Costa Rica on Wheel of Fortune

Congratulations to Rachel S., a 5^th grade teacher from Raleigh, North Carolina, who won a WorldStrides trip to Costa Rica during her appearance on Wheel of Fortune on September 9!

Rachel tells us she grew up watching Wheel of Fortune every night with her family, and she often joked with her mom that one of them needed to apply to be on the show. When the opportunity arose to be featured on the show’s Teacher’s Week, Rachel submitted an application and video through WheelofFortune.com, and the rest is history!

Rachel says she was excited, of course, but also incredibly nervous when they began filming the show. “I was so jittery and focused on the puzzle, I didn’t even realize I had landed on the Costa Rica trip until after I called the letter and Pat pointed it out,” she told us. “When I solved the puzzle and won the trip, it totally calmed my nerves and made me feel like, ‘I’ve got this!’ Plus, who wouldn’t be absolutely thrilled to go to Costa Rica?!” With her mom and husband in the audience cheering her on, Rachel said the entire experience was amazing and definitely a bucket list item she got to check off!

Students and teachers who participate in our incredible Costa Rica science programs get to experience all the destination has to offer. Beautiful beaches, ziplining through rainforests, and exploring an active volcano are just some of the highlights.
