Our Program Leaders – your teachers – are the heart and soul behind our programs. It’s the teacher students will remember. This year, for Teacher Appreciation Week, we asked students and parents who have participated in recent WorldStrides programs to nominate their program leaders for WorldStrides Teacher of the Year to honor their hard work and dedication. Each day this week, we will announce a WorldStrides Teacher of the Year.

Our WorldStrides Teacher of the Year: Performing is Brian Young, from Fairhaven High School in Fairhaven, Massachusetts. Bryan received two nominations recognizing his compassion for his students and their talents.

“Bryan Young is the most caring, selfless person I know. His students always come first above all else. He spends countless hours working with these young adults. His hard work and dedication have won awards. I personally witnessed his dedication. This man has always gone the extra mile. He is loved by his students, teaching staff, parents and the community. I truly wish for him to win Teacher of the Year. He would be so humbled if he knew we were nominating him.”

“Mr. Young goes above and beyond for his students. He is loving and compassionate and treats each student as if they were his own, taking their best interests to heart. He encourages each one to be the best they can be while instilling in them the can do, never give up attitude. He will take from himself to ensure that a student who he knows and feels has the potential to excel and wants to attend the band trips, contributes or find ways to be certain that student attends, despite their situation or hardship.

“He always lets his students know how proud he is of them despite whether or not they earn the top award or the least. When he speaks of his students, it always brings tears to his eyes as it does their own parents. Not enough can be said of this dear, kind and amazing educator. There is no one I feel more deserving of this award than Mr. Bryan Young. Thank you for your time and the opportunity for this nomination!”
