WorldStrides Teacher of the Year: Foreign Language - Mary Jo Renzi

Our Program Leaders – your teachers – are the heart and soul behind our programs. It’s the teacher students will remember. This year, for Teacher Appreciation Week, we asked students and parents who have participated in recent WorldStrides programs to nominate their program leaders for WorldStrides Teacher of the Year to honor their hard work and dedication. Each day this week, we will announce a WorldStrides Teacher of the Year.

Our WorldStrides Teacher of the Year: Foreign Language is Mary Jo Renzi of Maria Carrillo High School. In their own words, read why Mary Jo was nominated for WorldStrides Teacher of the Year by her students and their parents.

“Mrs. Mary Jo Renzi is by far one of the most compassionate, brilliant, funny, and overall best teachers that I have ever had or known. It is because of her that I love to learn new languages, and she has inspired me to become more active in world affairs. She is a true inspiration to us all, and I know many people whom she has touched dearly. I can never thank her enough for giving me and my fellow students the privilege and opportunity to go on such great trips like the ones through WorldStrides. She is absolutely deserving of an award such as this, I could never think of anyone else who would be more than her.” – Samuel

“Mrs. Renzi is not only an outstanding teacher, but a role model and mentor to her students. I continue to be impressed by her dedication to the success of her students, as well as her passion for Spanish language and culture and her extensive wisdom of the topics she teaches and of the world around her. She was the perfect person to have on our trip to Spain, and it wouldn’t have been the same without her. I highly respect and look up to her.” – Lindy

Congratulations, Mary Jo, and thank you for your dedication!
