Bangkok Protest

When anti-government agitators announced plans to shut down Bangkok with a citywide protest, three groups traveling with WorldStrides were already in or had plans to visit the Thai capital. The WorldStrides response was multi-faceted, quickly assessing the situation on the ground, creating “safe zones” for student free time, and moving business meetings to ensure minimal disruption to the program’s academic goals.

Two of the programs in Bangkok continued as scheduled with minimal disruption, thanks to these preventative measures. Because of WorldStrides large network, one EMBA program offered concerned students the choice: travel to Thailand, or remain in Vietnam where the first part of the program had just concluded. Though most students continued on to Thailand, one group remained in Vietnam, where WorldStrides arranged a series of meals, cultural activities, and two additional business visits, all with just 24 hours notice.
