How to Pack for a Trip Abroad

I absolutely love to travel, but I dread packing every time I go away. Even after countless trips, anxiety takes over and I waste time pacing the room, chewing my nails and taking breaks to check my Facebook feed. Although I’ve gotten better at packing more efficiently with every trip I take, there are two tricks I’ve found to take the stress off and ensure I don’t over-pack (or even under-pack) when I pack for a trip abroad.

Trick #1: Start Packing in Advance. I begin to lay out clothes and other items up to a week in advance. Some people think I’m crazy (because I do this for weekend trips too!), but it helps me conquer my packing anxiety and feel prepared.

Trick #2: Make a List. I am a big fan of lists in general, but they are especially helpful in keeping organized and ensuring I remember every critical item. Plus it gives me an overview of the things I’ll be bringing. So if I’m running low on contact solution or sunscreen, my list is a reminder to pick those items up before I begin placing anything in my suitcase.

It’s up to you to plan ahead, but if you need a little help with your list making, I’ve put together this handy printable packing checklist to ensure you don’t forget any important items for your educational tour. Feel free to pencil in any of your own personal items. Don’t forget to check off each item as you go along so you can keep track of what you’ve already put in your suitcase.

Don’t Stress Out – Plan Ahead! Happy packing!
