WorldStrides Helps Educators Escape To Two Unique Destinations

Every summer, WorldStrides honors our most active and enthusiastic Program Leaders with a well- deserved reward – an exciting “escape” filled with fun, sightseeing, and networking with their peers. This year’s Educators Escape destinations included Seattle, WA, and Riviera Maya, Mexico!

Over 115 Program Leaders and their guests traveled to Seattle during the last weekend in July. The evening of their arrival, the group visited the world-famous Space Needle for dinner and a spectacular view of the city skyline. The next day included a visit to Tillicum Village on Blake Island and a viewing of “Dance on the Wind,” a live presentation of traditional songs, dances, and stories that are integral to the native cultures of the Pacific Northwest. One Program Leader who participated in the trip said, “Fantastic food, great company, and I always enjoy feeling special!” Another Program Leader commented, “We had such a wonderful time all weekend. There was lots of free time, and the activities were well-planned. The WorldStrides staff always makes certain we are having a good time!”

More than 50 Program Leaders and their guests earned a five-day stay at the Barcelo Maya Palace Deluxe Resort in Mexico. With their days’ activities entirely up to them, they could relax on the beach, visit Mayan ruins, zip line through the jungle, refresh themselves in an underground river, swim with dolphins, or snorkel in the Caribbean Sea.

WorldStrides offered a number of educational seminars related to enhancing trip experiences and learning about our unique accredited status. Overall, 88 Program Leaders participated in seminars where they discussed storytelling, learned about travel photography, and explored the legacy of leading a student travel program. Our Associate Director of Education, Jessalyn Elliot, said, “I think that our teachers walked away with creative ideas for incorporating elements of student travel in their classrooms for any day of the year.”
