Of course, Music City, U.S.A. is a top destination for the dance community! Nashville has produced countless music greats, dozens of new music genres, and hosts some of the greatest performances within the city limits. This summer, we curated a timeless, boot-stomping adventure for aspiring performers, their leaders, and their families. Here are just a few highlights from the 2021 Dance the World Nashville experience.
The Grand Ole Opry
Performers get the chance of a lifetime to perform on stage at the Grand Ole Opry, following in the footsteps of greats like Dolly Parton, Deford Bailey, and the Grand Ole Opry Square Dancers, to name a few. The dance groups and their families took in a show at the venue. Finally, these dancers were also offered a backstage tour of the venue, getting to see the dressing rooms and experience a true pre-performance experience in this hall of the music greats.
Did you know? Each dressing room backstage at the Opry House is numbered with an inlaid, oversized guitar pick embedded in the floor in front of the door.
Dancing with the Stars Master Class
This summer, professional dancer Britt Stewart, of Dancing with the Stars, taught dancers, and teachers alike, a jazz number. Britt danced with Jason Weir, finishing 6th on the 29th season of DWTS. She also became the first black female full-time performer of the show during season 23. Her additional accolades include being part of the High School Musical Franchise and performing alongside Florence + The Machine, Rihanna, Demi Lovato, Janet Jackson, and Katy Perry.
Showstopper Performances
Each troupe makes up the Dance the World Parade, which begins and culminates with two performances; one in Downtown Nashville in front of the Country Music Hall of Fame, and the second at Bridgestone Arena for all to see. Dancers from all over the country come together for this dance spectacle for the local Nashvillians, tourists, their families, and their troupe leaders!
Line Dancing at the Wild Horse Saloon
The trip goes out with a bang at the Wild Horse Saloon, for a night of boot-kickin’ fun filled with line-dancing at the Dance the World gala. Dancers and their families enjoy the flavors of Nashville while building their line-dance repertoire and enjoying live music.
This was the trip of a lifetime for dancers that joined us in 2021, and we are looking forward to adding this new destination to our core offerings for future troupes and their families. We can’t wait to host your next adventure! To learn more about joining a Dance the World event, please reach out to us at nashville@wcv.com. You can also learn more here.
