Arab Spring

The revolution that unseated Hosni Mubarak in Egypt and became known as the Arab Spring throughout the Middle East disturbed several university trips operated through WorldStrides. Thanks to our worldwide network, the WorldStrides Capstone team was able to reroute individual students and full programs to avoid the dangerous region during the unrest.

One university group headed for Cairo was rebooked among several other university trips also operated by WorldStrides Capstone programs. Despite the short time frame, all students were able to experience an international trip as they’d planned. Another university group bound for Bahrain abandoned months of plans. With just weeks of notice, the WorldStrides Capstone team helped to operate a new program in Dubai, complete with hotels, meals, guides, memorable cultural events, and business visits. Others schools were able to reroute programs to Turkey and Jordan.
