Head of Specialty Programs

Rip oversees the WorldStrides domestic sports, celebrations and enrichment events. These programs attract from 50-30,000+ travelers per event and serve a variety of audiences including youth leadership, high-school graduates, and domestic sports teams in over 30 U.S. sport disciplines.

Rip is a graduate of University of California Berkeley. He spent several years in the Environmental Engineering field before changing careers and founding GET Travel Group in 1985. This travel enterprise grew to 60,000 annual travelers before being acquired by WorldStrides in 2013.  A long-time advocate for youth enrichment through Travel, Rip co-founded the Student & Youth Travel Association (SYTA), serving as President. He also co-founded the Student Youth Foundation (SYF) in 2000, serving as Chairman.  He has held various other leadership positions within the travel industry including the National Tour Association (NTA), the National Tourism Foundation (NTF) and the America Bus Association (ABA).   Rip currently lives in Northern California with his wife and three children.
